Rare mamaneedsavacay Posted January 4, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 4, 2018 We're still deciding between Almapena, Maya Chan, Blue Kay, Tropicante, but the common thread is that whether we paygo or it's included, it takes a taxi cab to get us there. Are the cabs sedans, SUVs, mini-vans, or what? I'm wondering whether 5 of us will fit in one standard cab or if we will have to split up or wait longer for larger vehicle. I will have one kid who still uses a booster seat and also need to decide whether to bring it off the ship at this port. DH rolls his eyes and says we'll be lucky if the cabs have seatbelts. True? Rare crewsweeper Posted January 5, 2018 #2 Share Posted January 5, 2018 There are van taxis. Taxis may have seat beats but doubt if used much. To catch a taxi to Almaplena or Maya Chan you need to exit the cruise port complex and walk about a 1/2 mile or less to the Farmacia and the first taxi stand. If you're going to Blue Kay or Tropicante, you can catch the tram that leaves fromt he port parking lot. The tram does not have seat belts. IIRC. for Blue Kay, get off at the first stop (Tequila Beach) and walk to the malecaon then turn left and head toward the lighthouse. For Tropicante tell the tram driver that's where you're going. The tram will stop near there and you can then walk to the malecon and head to Tropicante. There may be people there to help direct you, but beware there are "lounger hawkers" who will try to steer you to other clubs.

About a 4 minute walk. Be warned though that the sun is hotter that far south so wear a hat. Click here for a map. Tiembiay Posted January 16, 2018 #7 Share Posted January 16, 2018 Say hi to Monica at Almaplena. And Bella, your personal beach dog[emoji190], for the day. I highly recommend Almaplena. Been there many times. Your taxi fare is included, so, one cab or two matters not. No seatbelts or boosters. Also, almost zero traffic. All very long back roads. Almost a thrill ride, though. The roads are a little tougher than you are probably used to. But don’t worry. The cabbies are very experienced. Enjoy. vamartha Posted January 16, 2018 #8 Share Posted January 16, 2018 Maya Chan includes transportation with their admission. For us, it was a van, think Ford Econoline size van. No shocks. Or if it did have them once upon a time, they were worn out! LOL, the drive to Maya Chan is bumpy, very bumpy, lots of bumps, many, many, many bumps but so very worth each and every one! We ended up reserving at Maya Chan, but Almaplena looked so nice! Thanks for the answer. Maya Chan includes transportation with their admission. For us, it was a van, think Ford Econoline size van. Thanks for the pictures. We booked Maya Chan and are very excited. The common theme in all the responses and reviews seems to be bumpy roads!
