weltek Posted January 5, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 5, 2018 Someone posted this in a recent Escape Roll Call thread (not our roll call): "I was on the Escape earlier this month and they have changed the Wheel of Fortune machines to a higher maximum play so we will use the Monopoly machine instead to give ourselves the best chance of winning. Each person will spin max ($5) three times...." Our cruise is coming up next week, and am curious about your recent experience. Our slot pull hosts aren't that experienced with running these, so if there is advice on Wheel of Fortune vs. Monopoly machines, I'm sure we'd all be grateful! I've participated in a number of pulls, and we've always used the Wheel of Fortune machines, so if we should change to Monopoly, it would be good to know. Or is this much ado about nothing? TonyFred Posted January 5, 2018 #2 Share Posted January 5, 2018 I love the Monopoly machine on the Escape. Here is a video from my last sailing in October of 2017. It was a very good Sunday evening!

CUontheC Posted January 5, 2018 #4 Share Posted January 5, 2018 The Monopoly looks like a great game too. Will check it out when we get onboard. Might be worth switching to this machine for the slot pull.

ncklhaus Posted January 6, 2018 #7 Share Posted January 6, 2018 On our Breakaway cruise slot pull, there were 2 different types of Wheel of Fortune machines. One type with a $3 bet and the other had $5.
johnrich Posted January 6, 2018 #8 Share Posted January 6, 2018 I organized the Slot Pull on our cruise on the Escape back in September. The casino manager told me that they were changing some of the WOF machines out but luckily for us, this hadn’t happened yet. We were able to use the WOF. On our November Epic Cruise we used $5 WOF machines for the slot pull. However I played the Monopoly machines on my own and liked it. I thought the next time I organize the SP, I may use Monopoly so I would recommend it! Sent from my iPhone using Forums
newmexicoNita Posted January 6, 2018 #9 Share Posted January 6, 2018 We did the WOF on our last slot pull on the Pearl. It paid us almost nothing, In fact of all the slot pulls we have taken part in, this gave us back the least amount. For our $15 we each got back about $10. I have played in about a dozen and have organized all but 2 of them, never have we gotten back our investment, bt we have always had fun.
EggsyH Posted January 6, 2018 #10 Share Posted January 6, 2018 We missed 3 Gold Spin bonuses because the person organizing the slot pull did not know what they were doing. He had everyone playing 3 credits ( no Gold Spin Bonus) for 5 pulls instead of 5 credits (Gold Spin Bonus) for 3 pulls. When a couple of us noticed what was happening he said it would be up to the player to decide how to play. That is like a seasoned Blackjack player sitting at a table of newbies. Very frustrating. We did end up more than doubling our money but could have been much better. Bottom line, make sure you are playing in the bonus. And if you are organizing the game, which I have done several times, control the play. The casino managers are more than happy to help you. They usually give you free stuff to give away and have a tech available to put the credits on the machine instead of putting all those bills in one by one, which is another thing this did. CUontheC Posted January 6, 2018 #13 Share Posted January 6, 2018 That was on the new Wheel of Fortune machine Sent from my iPhone using Forums Great...thank you. So instead of 5 pulls per person they would have three. But if there is a cool bonus that would be great. I am going to check out the machines on the Escape when I get there. Last time I was on the Escape my husband and I both won $1000 on different machines. Also at the slot pull he pulled for $500 on the Wheel of Fortune machine. If you hit a multiplier on the Gold Spin then the wheel on top of the machine spins to see the bonus amount.

Everyone-I'm curious, is there ever a point where you had to split into two groups to manage the pull, due to a large number of participants? I don't think we are at that point, but if we get a last minute rush of joiners, that could take all afternoon!

I have already told everyone that we will split into 2 groups. Don't want it to take all morning and get boring. I figure 25-30 per machine, depending on the final numbers. We are still going to pool both machine's winnings and split among all participants.

If there are machines that have the 3 pulls I think I will do those. And if it a wheel of fortune bonus that would be great. Also not everyone shows for the slot pull that says they are going to come. I will wait to actually see who comes. I don't really want to split it into two groups. I have been part of these on every cruise and not once did we split it up and it did not take to long. But again, I will wait til we see who actually shows up.
