Bringing Wine on Med Cruises

Have not been on Med cruise in a bunch of years. I know we can each bring a bottle when we board. Are they charging corkage fees? Do they ever allow bringing a bottle on after a port visit?

Bringing a bottle to a public venue may subject you to a charge of $15 per bottle. You can bring on bottles of wine at ports, but if they see them, they will hold them until the end fo the cruise.

You can bring two bottles per cabin onboard at the start of the cruise. In theory they can charge $15 corkage although the didn't with us. Equally you can take a glass of wine along to the dining room having uncorked it in your room.

Yes, they DO scan your bags. They are scanned by the ship as you board. Then they have a table where you take your alcohol purchase and turn it in. It's delivered to your cabin on the last night.

Bags are scanned every time you get on the ship, no matter the port.

Sometimes the scanning is done by port authority.

We purchased wine in port on our Med cruise. There was a desk right behind security to hand it over - they returned it to us on the final night. This was fine - we wanted to bring it home. But just so you are aware they did enforce the rules.
