Question.

What part of the Area Spa can YC members use as part of the YC package?

Thanks, in advance.

YC (and Aurea) guests get unlimited access to the thermal suite in the Spa which consists of steam room, sauna and relaxation room.

Hi,

Please can you tell me what time check in opened for YC....it is not on any of my documentation, nor on the website.

Have only just considered that ship does not depart until 23:00 hrs! Many thanks, Anne

Whoops I lied...it is on the cruise ticket and it is 1.00 p.m. Big relief as I had read somewhere else that the check in was 18:00 hrs.

For those interested, (Bea) I have just found two extensive new reviews on the uk cruise. site for Splendida from those just back. One has fabulous photos. Click on to Forum, then Hot topics for the first and then scroll down to cruises and the next is under MSC. Very interesting. Anne

nb also Bea when I went to check in today the msc for me app came up to advertise its existence and then in the small print it said only on the Seaview and one other....coming to splendida soon.

Thanks for all the info, Anne, and for the heads-up about the reviews which I'll head off and have a look for, now.

I have the MSC for Me app on my phone (it may still be on my iPad, too?) as I downloaded it for Meraviglia. It, too, is advising "Coming to Seaview and Splendida soon". I have a feeling it won't be up and running 'til the China season.

FWIW, last year, we arrived to the port in Dubai at about 10.30am and boarding had started before then so, with priority boarding, we embarked very soon after. YMMV but you can arrive for check-in earlier than your documents state.

Formal night in YC.

85% of men in jackets and open collar shirt

5% in tux

5% in jacket and tie

4% in shirt

1% in jeans

0% in shorts

Trio of king prawns on skewers were terrible. We ordered a small side portion as waiter had told us lots were sent back but wanted to try them. He was right lol

Thanks for keeping us updated and answering the many questions being thrown at you, Paul & Ann-Marie.

Anne (andante) has pointed me in the direction of a review, elsewhere, in which the following was posted:

"The only other Speciality Restaurant is a fairly basic Oriental Seafood Cafe which is not covered by the Black card up on deck 16"

Can you find out if it's true that this SR isn't included in the Black Card benefit? The concierge should be able to let you know - if you could ask at any time that you're speaking with him/her.

Margaret you have to scroll down from where you saw hot topics and then you see all the sections...find the one for cruise lines and click on msc....then it looks like cruise critic msc board with different threads. I think the review was from Harry, if I recall dated 13th Jan.

I think it is that review that gives details of trips in Khasab...well worth reading. Anne

Thanks for that, Anne. I couldn't find it, either. I was looking in the wrong places! I'd found the "Hot Topics" one. Was very surprised to see who it was who was posting about an MSC cruise. I'm not surprised at the negative comments. I'm somewhat familiar with her postings.

Scrap that question, Paul. I've just read the following, elsewhere:

" Our invitation for a "Black card" meal was specifically Butchers Cut only so I think it is not included."

Thanks...

and about people management.

On such a large vessel, priority embarkation certainly makes sense.

But what happens when masses of people return to the ship from an excursion or trip?

Are there equally massive queues, or what?

Thanks again.

Our experience is that when you return from your trip there is a butler waiting with a "paddle" near the far gang plank and

they will escort you to the far entrance. I think this is the staff entrance! Nonetheless good experience...no queues and straight to YC lift.

On one of the stops (Grenada) we were docked next to another ship...there were masses of people coming and going. Outside of Fantasia they had a large white tent with butlers serving a variety of cooled waters...lemon cucumber etc and providing cold flannels. There were a few tables and chairs. It was marked YC only. Guess it was probably a bit of

marketing exercise but very nice.

It's not always the case that they have butlers waiting to give you priority access back onboard. We've had many times when we had to queue to board, like all the rest of the passengers, when in YC. Like everything else with MSC, there is absolutely no consistency.

Hi there, msuperb updates on here, we biard on 17th Feb. Just wondered if cabins have new carpets following the refurb, have read reviews that carpets are in a sorry state

I've read reports elsewhere that, yes, the carpets were all replaced. It would have been unusual had they not been when the ship was in for a major refit, as Splendida was.

Nit sure if you are doing the same itinery as we are in Feb, but if you do stop at Khasab, could you check if you can book a trip at the port, a Dhow cruise, half and full day, most appreciated.

I will be on the 4th Feb departure, half day is 30 Euro and full day is 45, we are planning to go with a half day tour and pay in Euros

Free black card dinner is ONLY in butchers cut and not in the makeshift restaurant on 16.

We had our meal in butchers cut tonight....

Initially told we couldnt order our preferred drinks as they "operate a seperate drinks menu".

We were sat roughly 20ft from the dim sum bar so i explained that i would get it myself.

Then had restaurant manager explain about the drinks menu and again I stated I would get what we wanted to drink, not what they wanted us to drink.

Waiter came with me and carried drinks back.

Did feel sorry for him as he was taking orders and looked terrified - gave him $10 and made sure we thanked him.

Food was great. Huge chopped salad and 3 massive prawns/shrimp on ice. Both had rack of lamb and shared sides as lots. Desserts we OK.

We left Butchers Cut absolutely stuffed.

Someone mentioned carpets. Our cabin carpet is bright orange and doesnt look new. Corridor carpets in YC show signs of seams coming apart.
