katiemylady Posted February 13, 2018 #1 Share Posted February 13, 2018 Hi everyone! My boyfriend and I will be crusing in April on the NCL Gem. We are looking to book probably one excursion while on one of the islands. One problem - my boyfriend cannot swim. So, snorkeling is out of the picture, unfortumately. I'm looking for tips or thoughts for other alternatives if anyone has been to the same ports! Here's what I saw on the cruise website, but unsure if there are other excursions we should think about, as this is new for both of us (neither of us have been on a cruise since childhood). Has anyone been on the following excursions and did you enjoy them if so? And if not, any other recommendations (totally open to non-cruise-sponsored excursions)? Thanks in advance!! Glass-Botton boat - Nassau Paradise Island and Sightseeing - Nassau Kayaking at Manatee Cave - Port Canaveral Airboat Adventure and Alligator Jungle - Port Canaveral Discover Atlantis - Nassau Kayak Tour - Great Stirrup Cay Dolphin Encounter, Beach Day & Snorkel (will probably not do the snorkel portion) - Nassau Also heard about the beer tour in Nassau and that sounds interesting to me as well! Rare John&LaLa Posted February 13, 2018 #2 Share Posted February 13, 2018 Kennedy Space Center is the best in Port Canaveral. Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Forums mobile app
cruiseapril Posted February 20, 2018 #3 Share Posted February 20, 2018 Sightseeing in Nassau. A walking tour or a bus tour is very good. Also, the Ardastra Gardens and Zoo could be included.
Rare mskaufman Posted February 20, 2018 #4 Share Posted February 20, 2018 Agree that the Space Center is a good non swimming alternative in P. Canaveral. In Nassau there are plenty of walking tours on the Web that you can do on your own. When we went on the Gem we walked to the Queens Staircase and then back through the business area to the straw market.
Buzzbea Posted March 4, 2018 #5 Share Posted March 4, 2018 Aquarium at Paradise Island Atlantis is amazing if you like that sort of thing.
Dinthesea Posted March 6, 2018 #6 Share Posted March 6, 2018 When we were snorkeling they supplied lifevest. Some with us were not swimmers and they had a blast. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Forums mobile app
SRF Posted March 6, 2018 #7 Share Posted March 6, 2018 Yes, most snorkeling excursions offer lift/flotation vests. So all he has to do it paddle. Or you could tow him. :D The dolphin encounters I have done, are in the water, and require some amount of swimming ability, but not a lot.
