Katemusical Posted February 13, 2018 #1 Share Posted February 13, 2018 Hi everyone! I have tried to find the answers on the boards but can't seem to pinpoint them. Sorry if you seen them over and over: What did you do in Belize with your toddlers? My hubby wants to go snorkeling, of course, but where could we go that toddlers are ok? Also has anyone sailed on Rhapsody of the Seas with a toddler? Thank you in advance!
Pitzel Posted February 13, 2018 #2 Share Posted February 13, 2018 We took our then 4 year old cave tubing. While we had to carry him for most of the hike, he thought tubing was fun.
Katemusical Posted February 13, 2018 Author #3 Share Posted February 13, 2018 Oh how fun!!! My hubby and I did the Tube The Ditch in Kauai and loved it. I'm sure our kidlet would have a blast tubing with us.
Pitzel Posted February 13, 2018 #4 Share Posted February 13, 2018 We went with Vital Nature Tours, though there are others that also allow children. Just look for one where you don’t have to carry your own tube on the hike. The hike is not strenuous, but you will want your hands free to carry your child, if they get tired of walking. cb at sea Posted February 14, 2018 #5 Share Posted February 14, 2018 Google Belize or get a guidebook. There's PLENTY to do in every port...after all, folks LIVE there, and have kids, too! A bit of research will put you ahead of the game!
kitkat343 Posted February 14, 2018 #6 Share Posted February 14, 2018 Please go with a private vendor in Belize. The cruise ship operators put larger numbers of people on their tours, which is dangerous because there is a guide at the front and back of the links of people to rescue people if there is a problem and it is more dangerous to be on a longer chain. On the day passengers drowned on the cruise ship cave tubing, some of the private vendors actually cancelled their tours because they felt the water level was too high. You might also want to talk to the company to see if they can be flexible about what you will do that day, because it is possible for the water to be extremely calm and safe (it was the day we did cave tubing in Belize and the kept yelling "butts up" since we were in danger of hitting the ground since there was so little water). I believe safety changes have been made (they are more likely to cancel if the water level is higher now) but you might want to tell the operator you'd like to be extra cautious if the water level is on the higher end (they determine each day if it is safe for cave tubing to operate). On your way back, you should try to stop at the Belize zoo - it's on the way to cave tubing and is very small but incredible.
A&Jfamily Posted February 16, 2018 #7 Share Posted February 16, 2018 We did Goff's Cay with our 2 year old. Great plan. We went with the cruise line because with a 2 yo and a tender port we wanted NO chance of being left behind.
