Places to leave luggage while we explore Barcelona?

Looking for ideas - Our flight back to Manchester UK after our Symphony cruise isn't leaving until 10pm ish. Planning on getting to the airport by 7pm maybe, means we have a whole day to see Barcelona. Anyone know of a place to leave our luggage while we enjoy Barcelona ? Either in the City itself or at the docks or even the airport as I thought we could get a travel pass....

Has anyone done this?

Sants Railway station has a left luggage facility. But you would be better posting this on the Spain ports of call board, or asking the mods to move it there. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=596

Thanks so much - found some ideas here ... https://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2547271

We have booked a day room at a hotel near the airport. I can't remember the name of the hotel we used but an internet search should give you options.

Essentially it is the cost of a one night's stay and it buys you an extra day to spend in Barcelona without having to worry about your luggage. Plus there is the comfort of freshening up before making your way to the airport.

In addition to specialist day room websites, I have found that it is useful to contact individual major branded hotels. They do make day rooms available if bookings are low for that day. This is not usually advertised so you have to email them individually.

One thing I have not tried is using hostels. There are plenty in Barcelona, often in good touristy locations. They have luggage rooms so might be persuaded to store your luggage at a much lower cost. This is handy if you planning to just hang out in one area like the gothic quarter. Not sure how they compare security wise to a conventional hotel.

Thanks - thats an idea I hadn't considered :) Will definitely explore that one - especially as we have a whole day - might need a nap!! :D

If you can get an earlier flight the next day on Jet2, Easyjet or Ryanair why not stay overnight in a hotel and enjoy Barcelona properly.

We did the opposite and used a company Bags&Go. Early flight in, late boarding time and departure. Dropped our luggage with them inside Barcelona Airport. Delivered direct to the corridor outside our stateroom later that day. Pretty sure they will do it in reverse. Very good service.

The complication is whether they allow early check-in or even guarantee it. With the day room deal, there is a fixed period which has a positive and negative. IME you can check-in between 9:00 am and 10:00 am but you are required to check-out earlier than you might want to. Typically at around 6:00 pm.

I have looked into booking overnights in lieu of day room even if I intend checking out the same day but it is the guarantee of early check-in that has been a problem. Not saying it can't be solved but beware.

Thats true.

If you stay at the hotel pre-cruise then tell them when you return they are pretty amenable.

There is a very useful luggage service who collect your luggage from you at the port and then you pick it up at the airport! I’ve used them twice and highly recommend them.

This is perfect!! I've booked them to take our luggage from the port to the airport. Meanwhile we can explore Barcelona all day, and make our way over to the airport to join our luggage later! Thanks so much for the tip :0)

Happy to help! The pick up point at the airport is down near the metro station, at the official left luggage place. I remember it was a bit of a hike so give yourself a few extra minutes.
