claireruth Posted March 3, 2018 #2 Share Posted March 3, 2018 I usually drink vodka and soda with extra lime wedges when I'm doing low carb. Diet mixers are usually okay, too, since they have fake sugars.
hftmrock Posted March 3, 2018 #3 Share Posted March 3, 2018 straight hard liquor is usually good. some beers like michelob ultra is only 2.6 carbs coffee , water (bring your own flavoring)
re-re Posted March 3, 2018 #4 Share Posted March 3, 2018 Rum and diet coke or diet cranberry juice, crystal light lemonade works well with rum or vodka.

kellbellscruise Posted March 4, 2018 #7 Share Posted March 4, 2018 I second the nomination for dirty martini's.....
kdawg954 Posted March 4, 2018 #8 Share Posted March 4, 2018 For Rum based drinks use diet coke and lime to chase. Tequila and Vodka both chase well with club soda. You can do a splash of pineapple for minimal taste addition. Gin drinker stick to dirty martini’s Corona Light has like 5 carbs per 12 oz . . . Squeeze a lime and enjoy ice cold. Stay away from sweet mixers and fruity drinks and you will be fine.
Heartkrazy Posted March 4, 2018 #9 Share Posted March 4, 2018 I'm not a club soda fan, so I usually do tonic with my vodka.....Grey Goose, Tonic & 3 limes :)

coevan Posted March 5, 2018 #11 Share Posted March 5, 2018 Rum and diet coke or diet cranberry juice, crystal light lemonade works well with rum or vodka. Rum is pure sugar, tons of carbs. All alcohol has sugar, carbs = sugar
erikaem86 Posted March 5, 2018 #12 Share Posted March 5, 2018 - Straight up alcohol drinks like a classic martini, - Diet cola drinks - Soda water drinks. Pretty much any other mixer will have carbs.
Jim and Monika Posted March 5, 2018 #13 Share Posted March 5, 2018 Rum is pure sugar, tons of carbs. All alcohol has sugar, carbs = sugar Actually you are only half correct. Rum starts out as mostly sugar, but it is all converted into alcohol. Unflavored rum has zero carbs.
DJTRVL Posted March 5, 2018 #14 Share Posted March 5, 2018 Rum is pure sugar, tons of carbs. All alcohol has sugar, carbs = sugar You are wrong. Alcohol (spirits) contain no carbs. Beer and wine always do. Mixers can and often do.

buffy24 Posted March 5, 2018 #17 Share Posted March 5, 2018 I also have to do low carb and I usually go with vodka and club soda with lime (or lemon). If you like it a bit sweeter, you can always mix in a no calorie sweetener. Sometimes I put a stevia in mine.
coevan Posted March 5, 2018 #18 Share Posted March 5, 2018 I stand corrected and it's time for a drink. I feel thinner already.

oncruisecontrol Posted March 6, 2018 #20 Share Posted March 6, 2018 I'm not a club soda fan, so I usually do tonic with my vodka.....Grey Goose, Tonic & 3 limes :) Tonic is pretty high in sugar unless it's diet tonic. Just an FYI since the OP was asking about low carb.
sunshine&shiningstar Posted March 6, 2018 #21 Share Posted March 6, 2018 I bring cans of diet tonic and just add the gin:)
DebJ14 Posted March 6, 2018 #22 Share Posted March 6, 2018 I'm not a club soda fan, so I usually do tonic with my vodka.....Grey Goose, Tonic & 3 limes :) That is certainly not low carb! A can of tonic water has 32 grams of carbs (all sugars) and 124 calories. So, unless you use diet tonic water you are certainly not having a low carb drink. It is also high in sodium. zanydoc Posted March 6, 2018 #23 Share Posted March 6, 2018 Don’t forget Crown Royal or Jack or Seagram’s 7 and Sprite Zero/Coke Zero. Also Grey Goose or Patron or Bombay Sapphire and Sprite Zero. Michelin Ultra (which my husband refers to as “Chickalob” ultra) isn’t half bad with a twist of lime. I do low carb, too! Sometimes a tad difficult on the cruise:D.... geckoaz Posted March 6, 2018 #24 Share Posted March 6, 2018 Rum and diet coke. No carbs. I thank god for genius that turned sugar cane into rum. Avoid sweetened rums and mixers. Now
nchikk Posted March 6, 2018 #25 Share Posted March 6, 2018 All of which begs the question...do Carnival bars have at the ready diet mixers (other than sodas)?
