basor Posted March 4, 2018 #1 Share Posted March 4, 2018 We have quite a bit of OBC and everything else "paid for".....there is a port with an excursion only available thru O. Can we pre book the shore excursion on line but use OBC to pay for the excursion then or once on board? I know other cruise lines are now allowing people to pre-book shore excursions using OBC already posted to their account. Thanks in advance for your advice...never booked an "O" excursion before! Classiccruiser777 Posted March 4, 2018 #2 Share Posted March 4, 2018 No, but once onboard you may be able to cancel the booking and rebook the excursion using your OBC.
njhorseman Posted March 4, 2018 #3 Share Posted March 4, 2018 No, but once onboard you may be able to cancel the booking and rebook the excursion using your OBC. Don't think that will work because the cancellation will produce more OBC, not a cash refund, so it doesn't solve the problem.

We have our first O cruise coming up later this year, so I can't be certain... but on most other lines, cancelling a pre-booked excursion results in a refundable OBC. Is O different? There are restrictions to cancelling “free” O Life excursions but not to pre-paid ones (if cancelled before deadline for cancellation). If cancelled more that 14 days before cruising, the refund will go back to the CC used; if cancelled onboard, you will get refundable OBC. If O Life tour is cancelled by cruise line - for whatever reason - you get $100 non refundable OBC. If you cancel a pre-paid excursion onboard to use OBC to pay for it, you will go to the end of the waiting line (if there is one).

Thanks for the info....when the excursions open up, we will book and check on board if there is a waiting list before canceling to use OBC.. Always can depend upon CC for the best answers!!! The OBC that they give you when you pre-book an excursion, then cancel and re-book it when on board to use your OBC is refundable at the end of the cruise in cash because it is your money! We do it all the time when there are excursions that we need to pre-book to make sure we get them. The staff at Destination Services is great about it.
