bgyoshi Posted March 11, 2018 #1 Share Posted March 11, 2018 Does Princess allow disembarking after embarking on embarkation day? We’re sailing out of Vancouver, flying in that morning. We’re scheduled to land at 10AM. Can we drop off our luggage and explore Vancouver for lunch before getting back on the ship (scheduled to depart at 4PM)? Thanks! fishywood Posted March 11, 2018 #2 Share Posted March 11, 2018 (edited) What you would want to do is simply leave your luggage with the porters then head out. Do not check in until you are ready to board. In Vancouver you go through Immigration to exit Canada as you check in so leaving the terminal afterwards could be an issue. Or is there a reason you would want to actually embark the ship and then go back out, rather than just check your luggage and see the city for a few hours? We don't have to get on the ship! Thanks for the info. It's been a few years since I've cruised, forgot the details :)

You should have no problem checking in and then going onto the ship and dropping off your hand carried items in your room and then leaving the ship. If, however the check-in line is really long and you either have no carry ons or don't mind carrying them you could always just drop off your bags and turn around and go back out and see the town. To me, however, getting check in over and done with just makes it quicker and easier when you finally do return to sail away. Immigration should really have no bearing on leaving the ship, Tom
Rare cr8tiv1 Posted March 11, 2018 #5 Share Posted March 11, 2018 It has been a very long time since I did a back to back in Vancouver. All I can remember is the very long lines (and they are not for checking in). There were three ships in port. 10 AM is not arriving "early". Are you coming from another Canada airport or do you still have to go through immigration at the airport. That can take you a couple of hours. Then you need to get to the cruise terminal (another hour). Don't think you will have much time to check in and go to lunch. Do you have a specific restaurant in mind? How will you get there? Remember ship sails at 4....and you will need to be in line to get on yet.
Potstech Posted March 11, 2018 #6 Share Posted March 11, 2018 You would not be able to see much in Vancouver in just a few hours. Unless you have a specific eating place, know where it is at or a specific storeI think it would benpushing it . Arriving at 10 means getting to the port arond 11:30. Depending on check in to get on the ship you are looking at 1:00 to 1:30 before you can leave again. mIf the ship departs at 4:00 you would need to be back on boad by 3:30. So that gives you about 2 hours or so. Good luck
