cb at sea Posted March 12, 2018 #2 Share Posted March 12, 2018 Contact a good local travel agency in your town, or call the cruise line directly. It depends how comfortable you are with booking on your own. It's not hard. If everyone is booking their own cabins and making their own arrangements, then simply tell them the sail date, and name of ship....you book yours, they will book theirs...and you're done! If you're using a travel agent, give them the agent's name and number and it will be handled by the agent. It's always good to have deck plans in front of you when booking, so you know what you're paying for, cabin-wise! Realize that ship cabins are nowhere NEAR the size of a hotel room, until you get into the "suite" categories. "Mini-suites" don't qualify for "suite perks" on most ships. As far as ports, you should get a guidebook and learn about the places you'll visit. Recommend that step to the rest of your party, also, so that everyone can end up doing what interests THEM while ashore! Most things are pretty easy to DIY if you know something about the places you'll visit. Ship's excursions are pricey and seldom necessary!

onthelake Posted March 14, 2018 #4 Share Posted March 14, 2018 Do you want to sail out of New York or another nearby port? How long - a week? What time of year - or only on school vacation? Do you need any cabins that accommodate more than 4? Or want adjoining cabins? Any little ones three or under that you want to have babysitting services? Are you more interested in the ports or the ship (shows, casino, water slides )? More specific information would really help in providing helpful advice.
