Joebucks Posted April 3, 2018 #1 Share Posted April 3, 2018 Since the first night is really just embarkation, you'd have 6 days. What would you prefer? I think for me, I would like 4 port days, and 2 sea days. I find sea days to be very relaxing, and necessary to get a good taste of the ship. However, I would like to go heavier on the ports. Thoughts?
bury me at sea Posted April 3, 2018 #2 Share Posted April 3, 2018 In the Caribbean I want a minimum of three sea days, and would prefer more.
grandmarnnurse Posted April 3, 2018 #3 Share Posted April 3, 2018 I actually prefer sea days. I love going ashore, but the ship is my destination and would love a longer cruise with more sea days. Sent from my iPad using Forums
Oh Not Him Again Posted April 3, 2018 #4 Share Posted April 3, 2018 In the Caribbean I want a minimum of three sea days, and would prefer more. 5 Sea Days, 2 Days at HMC!!!!
famof4togo Posted April 3, 2018 #5 Share Posted April 3, 2018 I agree with the OP....I like a balance for sure...but I'd sway towards a port day in a tie breaker....I enjoy how it can kinda feel like two vacations that way...time on ship vs time off ship
RW_MI Posted April 3, 2018 #6 Share Posted April 3, 2018 The more ports the better. I just got back from a five port, seven day cruise (but not on Carnival), and I loved it. Would enjoy six even more!
Lhound92 Posted April 3, 2018 #7 Share Posted April 3, 2018 I have 4 port days and 2 sea (and embarkation day) I like that my first day after embarkation is a sea day, nice relaxing start to vacation! And then the final day is a sea day too. 4 port days in a row will get tiring but some we don’t dock until late morning Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Rare Jamman54 Posted April 3, 2018 #8 Share Posted April 3, 2018 We prefer 3 sea days and 3 port days on a 7 day cruise.
tea4ular Posted April 3, 2018 #9 Share Posted April 3, 2018 I personally love sea days, especially on a ship with a Cloud 9 spa. I don't spend all my time there, but I sure do enjoy it, as well as just being able to enjoy the view as we sail. I don't need any port to be happy. watermelonqueen99 Posted April 3, 2018 #10 Share Posted April 3, 2018 We prefer 3 port days and 3 sea days. We prefer one sea day on the front side, and two sea days on the back side, because that gives us two full days to hang with new friends and bartenders we've met that week. nybumpkin Posted April 3, 2018 #11 Share Posted April 3, 2018 I'm happy with three port days, three sea days. I really like having two sea days on the return - too often with only one sea day on the return, after the last port you end up feeling like the cruise is over too early. fresnel468 Posted April 3, 2018 #13 Share Posted April 3, 2018 Wish there was a 7 day with one port in the Caribbean. 3 at sea + 1 port + 2 at sea would be great.
bakersdozen12 Posted April 3, 2018 #14 Share Posted April 3, 2018 Depends what ports are involved. I love sea days, so cruises with 3 are great. But I also loved the Fascination’s one sea day cruise because the ports were so awesome. And I suspect I will fee the same way about my Mediterranean cruise in a couple weeks, which also has only one sea day.
beachbum53 Posted April 3, 2018 #15 Share Posted April 3, 2018 On a 7 day cruise, 4 ports and two sea days is typically what we prefer. And, if it's two ports, then a sea day, then two more ports, then one more sea day before Debarkation Day, that's a good mix for us. A port intensive cruise with no sea days can be very exhausting. As much as I love the ocean, too many sea days can be a little boring.

Rare SRQbeachgirl Posted April 4, 2018 #17 Share Posted April 4, 2018 I love sea days, so prefer 3+3. Our next cruise has 4 ports, but we leave the last one at 2pm. Honestly, we're thinking we might not even get off the ship that day. Staying onboard when most people are off the ship is wonderful!
nealstuber Posted April 4, 2018 #18 Share Posted April 4, 2018 5 Sea Days, 2 Days at HMC!!!! I’m with the 3&3 people, but I’d prefer 2 ports where you overnight at one. Was so pleased when I saw Splendor doing two days in Cabo. But she goes out to sea overnight, presumably so the Casino can open. Would gladly book an overnight hotel to get a sunset on the beach, but would worried ship might not make it back the next day and I’m not sure they’d “let me” anyhow. jason3695 Posted April 4, 2018 #19 Share Posted April 4, 2018 For me, It really depends on where in the world the ship is. If I was in Europe or Asia, I’d prefer only one sea day. If I was in the Caribbean, I would take 6 sea days!!
drgonzogoo Posted April 4, 2018 #20 Share Posted April 4, 2018 We did a 7-day with 4 ports and 2 sea days last year, the first 3 ports, we had stuff planned etc. On the 4th port, we were beat. Now, this year, we are doing 8-days, with 2 sea days at the end.... i believe that will be perfect... i'll let you know in a few weeks....
riclop Posted April 4, 2018 #21 Share Posted April 4, 2018 The more port days the better so we can enjoy a nearly empty ship.
bougiet Posted April 4, 2018 #22 Share Posted April 4, 2018 For 7 days I prefer 3 islands as I like to enjoy the relaxation on the ship. I love going to the islands and sitting on a gorgeous beach but it does get a bit hectic with 4 islands on a 7 day IMHO
jhsieh Posted April 4, 2018 #23 Share Posted April 4, 2018 I would like it if everyday were a port day! I don't care much about being on the ship and use cruising as a fairly inexpensive way to visit multiple destinations.

I don't particularly care for too many sea days and have avoided itineraries that had more than 2. I don't mind a day at sea to start, and my last day at sea though as it gives me time to relax on both ends (to unwind when I get on, and then to relax and nap my last day before heading back to the grind).
