Booked on the Allure of the Seas Amphitheater Suite - First time Star Class

Recommended Posts

I am taking my mother in law, wife, and son and interested on what to expect. My mother in law will probably stay in in suite most of the time except dinner and shows. My son is a disabled vet and suffers at times from anxiety. This is why we chose the star class suite instead of a cabin.

I hear the service is wonderful and would like to know what to expect and how be use these services efficiently. I hope that came out right.

I had read this, but while enthusiastic and positive about the level of service, I was looking more at some of the specifics which she didn't really cover.

What specifics do you mean?

We'll be in an aquatheater suite trying star class for the first time on Oasis in a few weeks. One of the perks I look forward to is the ability to avoid the hassle of a crowd as much as possible since the genie has scheduled all our reservations and bookings. Any changes we may need to make once on board whether we're too tired or would just rather do something else, a quick call to the genie is all that is required. If there's anything that would make your family more comfortable like having extra blankets or having a certain kind of snack handy in the cabin, tell your genie beforehand and they'll have it ready. The genie will reserve seats for the shows usually in the first row for you but I'm sure they'd be happy to accommodate if you would rather have seats reserved near an exit should your son feel the need to leave early.

Priority boarding and a chance to go right to your suite or at least the suite lounge rather than fighting the masses in the Windjammer is a plus, especially for someone like your son who may need a quiet place after traveling and getting on board to feel settled and comfortable. I also like that we have the option of getting specialty restaurants as well as MDR food delivered to the cabin so if your son is having a rough night you can all still enjoy dinner together in the calmness of your cabin. I've also read that if you tell your genie when you want to get off in port, they'll escort you past the crowds.

Hopefully that helps address some of your questions.

Ditto. I, too, thank your son for serving our country and your family’s sacrifice to keep us free and safe.

How wonderful that you are going to be in a Star class suite. I’ve never booked one but have only heard WONDERFUL things about it.

Have a GREAT cruise and enjoy every perk!!

One perk that we really enjoy is never EVER having to go to Guest Services for anything. I know that the Concierges are also supposed to be able to resolve your GS issues but with Star Class they (the Genie) will SCOLD you if they find out that you went there for any reason. The Genie has access to your onboard account and will remove any illegitimate charges that may appear. On our second SC cruise for whatever reason, we had a charge from one of the main dining rooms (presumably for drinks) but we never set foot in any main dining room the entire cruise so he immediately removed it. The Genie also removed charges that we incurred from repeat visits to the Thermal Spa. The old Star Class brochure permitted unlimited trips to the Thermal Spa but a subsequent brochure had limited Thermal Suite use to 1 visit but the Genie made good on the unlimited option. We also had an unfortunate credit card issue (who knew you had to tell the Royal Caribbean Visa people that you would be on a Royal Caribbean cruise prior to sailing !) and our Genie completely bypassed GS and went straight to the Finance Director onboard to get it resolved within an hour.

Honestly, the very best perk, IMO, is the ability to have whatever food you want from anywhere on the ship, delivered to your suite. The only limitation to this is that delivery must be during normal operating hours of the restaurant you choose. I have heard of people getting pizza and other food options at 2AM (even have a personal confirmation of this; traveling companions also in a Star Class suite had pizza delivered to the casino in the wee hours) so there must be some exceptions to this rule, but I would never make an unreasonable request like that. Obviously, others do.

I agree with others that your son's special circumstances may benefit immensely from the SC amenities. The Genies will do almost anything from delivery of popcorn to your suite to saving seats at any show or venue for your convenience. About the only thing the Genie cannot do for you is attend the muster drill for you ! Just a joke but this request, unfortunately, was declined.

If you want a Barefoot Beach cabana be sure and let your Genie know before boarding as Star Class suites get first choice of cabanas and you will be more likely to get the cabana of your choice rather than what is left over. Also, any cost related to a cabana rental will not have to be paid in advance at the time of booking. That cost will be added to your Seapass account and you can pay at the end of the cruise.

When we went to Johnny Rocket's on boarding day, once the server began explaining what was included in the cover charge. When saw the SC Seapass his response was, "Never mind. Just keep ordering whatever you want". It's a nice feeling to know that you can have whatever you want. The same applies to things like upcharge items at Chops (lobster, etc.) or Izumi Hibachi. You will not be charged for any upcharge items. I have read many postings saying that they can get the same thing as Star Class pax by purchasing the Ultimate Dining Package and the Deluxe Drinks Package but that's really not true. Even with the Ultimate Dining Package you will be charged for upcharge menu items but with Star Class you are not charged. Are you paying for these add-ons with Star Class ? Of course you are...just not separately. But the convenience of knowing that you can have whatever you want at any time is pretty nice.
