gdy0354 Posted April 11, 2018 #1 Share Posted April 11, 2018 Just off Oasis Sunday. Been on 7 Oasis/Allure cruises. First time there have been lifeguards at ALL pools including Solarium. I understand it just started late last year. They did an amazing job. Never took eyes off every section of pool. Before changing guards each guard would inspect the entire pool before switching, and both gave thumbs up to each other every time they agreed pool was clear. EVERY time someone jumped, dove, got on someone's shoulder, ran on edge of pool, they would immediately make them stop. This applied to both adults and kids. If they saw any type of injury, they would blow a double whistle, and immediately another first aid lifeguard would show up. I'm sure this was due to earlier drowning on a ship, but it sure made it more pleasant, especially when pool was full. Very pleased with the lifeguards being added. One thing to note, the lifeguards are NOT CHAIR HOG POLICE. That is the somewhat responsibility of the POOL ATTENDANTS.

SG65CB Posted April 11, 2018 #3 Share Posted April 11, 2018 My favorites are the lifeguards in the Solarium pool, watching over the adults who are sitting on the edge of the pool dangling their feet in the water and sipping drinks.
Great 2 B at Sea Posted April 11, 2018 #4 Share Posted April 11, 2018 While on the Serenade in February, the lifeguards in the Solarium did an emergency drill. However, none of us knew this was only a drill......definitely a key part of the equation. When a whistle was blown, we all got up and saw a lifeguard in the water, holding up the head of someone "in trouble", and everyone panicked. Two EMT's, sitting next to us, immediately ran poolside to assist. It was only then we were made aware it was only a drill. It took awhile for all of us to calm down. When they decide to do an emergency drill, they should really let the people in the pool area know this.
