glo3479 Posted April 13, 2018 #1 Share Posted April 13, 2018 Has anyone done an Atlantic crossing in either Seadream, Windstar, Silverseas, Seabourn or Viking Ocean. We love the smaller ships, but I was wondering how they handle out on the ocean.
paul929207 Posted April 13, 2018 #2 Share Posted April 13, 2018 We have done a couple on the Ocean Princess which held 680 passengers. We met the remnants of a hurricane off the coast of Nova Scotia. It was quite rough for a day or so.
navybankerteacher Posted April 13, 2018 #3 Share Posted April 13, 2018 We've done a TA on Prinsendam and found that she rode as well as, or better than, the several larger ships given comparable sea conditions.
marden1970 Posted April 13, 2018 #4 Share Posted April 13, 2018 We did it in 10/89 on one of the Windstar sailing ships from the Canary Islands to Saint Thomas. Not a big cruise ship so you mostly just relaxed and ate. It was a repositioning cruise so it was pretty cheap except for the airfare. There were only about 60 passengers so it was like being on a private yacht. It was 11 days and the weather was great. Would do it again except there are so many other places I would like to go. Rare wishIweretravelling Posted April 13, 2018 #5 Share Posted April 13, 2018 I did it on the Regent Seven Seas Navigator, which holds a max of 490 pax. It generally did well. A lot, however, depends on the weather at the time of crossing. Also, we crossed south of the equator, which I understand is usually gentler than the north Atlantic.
