trrn2016 Posted April 15, 2018 #1 Share Posted April 15, 2018 Hi, Looking for ideas for a good excursion for St. John, NB which includes Bay Of Fundy. Would also like to know if this port is walkable on our own? Thanks for your help!
mets123 Posted April 16, 2018 #2 Share Posted April 16, 2018 The area near the ship is very walkable. The Fundy area is a 20 to 30 minutes walk. The HOHO bus is also a good option.
Rare martincath Posted April 16, 2018 #3 Share Posted April 16, 2018 I have a sneaking suspicion that when a tourist mentions 'Bay of Fundy' what they actually mean is Hopewell Rocks or St Martins Caves rather than 'all that water the cruise ship is sitting in right now, as the entire expanse of salt water you can see is the bay';-) If you actually are just happy seeing any of the bay rather than the famous 'walk on the sea floor/in caves that are underwater at high tide' OP, then you don't even have to get off the ship! If you do want to see one of these two famous sites, check the tide timetables at each for your date - unless it's a long day in port you may not be able to see both Low and High water and will have to choose! Sorry, no recco from me on who to go with - we roadtripped here partly to ensure we could see the low and high tides and the reversing rapids (which were nowhere near as impressive as we had been led to believe so if you have to choose, bounce these to the bottom of your list!) Ashland Posted April 17, 2018 #4 Share Posted April 17, 2018 This past October we took part in a great private tour organized by a member on our rollcall using Dave's Taxi Tours.
OctoberSky Posted April 17, 2018 #5 Share Posted April 17, 2018 Is there a convenient place to rent a car in this port? I'd like to see the Fundy Trail, but we can't do a 7 hour bus tour because we'll have a toddler with us. Thanks!
