Since they are the same size I assume it is just the deck; deluxe French balcony is on Rhine deck (upper) and French balcony is one level down.

Gnome - I think you are correct.

We are booking this cruise for 2019 and are also wondering about the difference between the Deluxe and the standard French Balcony rooms. Is being on an upper deck worth the price difference? We have only been on one river cruise - Uniworld Castles Along the Rhine last summer. We had a standard French Balcony room then, and it was fine. But we had nothing to compare it to. Trying to decide whether to pay the extra for the Deluxe next time. We looked at photos on the Uniworld website, but the angle of the photos makes it difficult to compare. So would appreciate any advice!

I actually prefer the middle deck. The noise of dropping rails/etc while going under bridges in the middle of the night is terribly loud overhead.

I agree location is the only difference.
