Rare jimbo5544 Posted May 12, 2018 #26 Share Posted May 12, 2018 I 100% agree with you on this! I felt the same exact way about the Allure on our cruise we did on her this past March. So many choices, and everything we had was delicious, I loved the food on the Allure. We also hardly ever went to the windjammer too, maybe like 3 times the entire week. So much food, I loved Sorrento’s pizza. (I think it was a lot better than the Pizza on Carnival to be honest). We loved all the food we had onboard, Allure has been the BEST cruise and my favorite that I’ve done so far. Side note, did you get a chance to do the up-charge lunch at Chops Grille? Sent from my iPhone using Forums So I am thinking that you pretty much like every food item better on royal than carnival. Rare Tapi Posted May 13, 2018 #29 Share Posted May 13, 2018 Side note, did you get a chance to do the up-charge lunch at Chops Grille? Sent from my iPhone using Forums We did Chop’s Grille for dinner, and our experience wasn’t as good as we’d hoped for. We loved the setting, in Centra Park, but our waiter was very busy and flustered, running from one table to another, which somewhat killed the ambiance that we were hoping for. We both ordered medium filet mignon, and one arrived bloody red and the other one was so over cooked that we had to return it. We’ve throughly enjoyed Chops Grille on other Royal Caribbean ships but on the Allure it missed the mark. To give credit where credit is due, to this day the best steakhouse we’ve experienced at sea has been on Carnival, more specifically on the Liberty. To this day, one of the best specialty restaurant experiences, in terms of service and quality, that we’ve encountered on any cruise line that we’ve sailed on. Aquahound Posted May 13, 2018 #30 Share Posted May 13, 2018 I'd call it a wash on food between these 2 lines. I think RCI has better buffet offerings, but I think Carnival has better lido deck options. RCI has much more varied specialty dining offerings but when it comes to steaks, Carnival's Steakhouse is better than RCI's Chops. In the MDR, I think Carnival has better desserts, but It think RCI has better appetizers.
