jc4me Posted May 12, 2018 #1 Share Posted May 12, 2018 Hi, We will be in Cozumel in October with a group of 7 varying in ages from 50's to 80's and I was looking at Nachi Cocom or Chankanaab. We want to be able to snorkel from shore and I know we can do that at Chankanaab, but I'm not sure about Nachi Cocom. Thanks in advance!
JohninDC Posted May 12, 2018 #2 Share Posted May 12, 2018 Not much but a sandy bottom to see at Nachi; there are a few fish around the pier, but you need to watch for small boat traffic. They do offer a snorkel tour to the reef - 2-3 stops/90 or so minutes, for about $30+ each. You might also check out snorkeling from the shore at the Money Bar - no admission fee, good snorkeling, no beach, good facilities, and good food/drinks/service. JohninDC Posted May 12, 2018 #4 Share Posted May 12, 2018 Mitsugirly has a photo intensive review of Money Bar (and an older one of Nachi) linked in her signature - she is a frequent poster, so you should be able to find her.

drvmywifecrzy Posted May 14, 2018 #6 Share Posted May 14, 2018 Chankanaab will be enjoyable for snorkeling but it is not a true beach entrance. You go down metal stairs. Nachi is great for a relaxing beach day

Money Bar is great for snorkeling. Here's their menu if you're interested. http://www.debsdays.com/2017/12/money-bar-cozumel.html

hawk1972 Posted May 14, 2018 #9 Share Posted May 14, 2018 We were at Nachi Cocom in January and did some snorkeling. As was mentioned, it is mostly sandy so there's not a lot to see. There are a few large rocks that hold some fish and we found one starfish. One guy had signed up for the snorkeling tour but there weren't enough people to go. Chankanaab has a lot better snorkeling, but as was also mentioned, you have to step down the rocks to get into the water.
