Sailing on Zuiderdam in January 2019 and have several questions.

1. Any self serve laundry facilities? 2 What is policy (iam diabetic) on bring on board canned water, soda, other non- alcoholic drinks from Fort Lauderdale and/or port shops? 3. What about getting ice (room service $$$, carry ice bucket to bars w small tip)?

Any advice on shore excursions from local providers.

Welcome to Cruise Critic.

No self-service laundry facilities but ship laundry service is $20/bag or $7/day for the entire cruise.

Bring all of the non-alcoholic beverages that you wish in your carry-on luggage.

Room Steward will bring all the ice you wish. We do three deliveries per day.

You can get a lot of stuff packed in that laundry bag for $20 -- well worth the price.

There isn't any limit of the amount of bottled water, sodas, etc., that you bring onto the ship on embarkation day or any of the ports.

Our cabin stewards bring us ice any time of the day when we run out. They will supply ice after they make up your cabin in the morning and do turn down service in the evening. It is a small bucket and doesn't last long.

thanks for quick responses. any idea on size of laundry bag. wil use 3-4 days into cruise, do underwear at night and hang up to dry in bath.

We can fit two pair pants, three shirts, pajamas, three underwear, three pair socks, dress, and with room left over.

Although the standard ice bucket is small, if you ask your room steward he should be able to get you a wine bucket full of ice. One time we had a party in our cabin and he brought 5 of these for me!

Thanks for tips and daily Zuiderdam notes. They were especially helpful

Wanted to add that on my last Eastern Caribbean HAL cruise (Dec 17) finding soda in ports was hard. There was none to be found in some ports. Now, that could have been due to the hurricane recovery/delivery issues. The cruise before (Mexico 2016) I had no trouble finding a few bottles in the shops in port.

If you are an addict like me, I'd suggest carrying on just in case. Now, it was never an issue buying on ship, just a bit overpriced.

20" to drawstring (21" total) x 13.5". You can get a lot into a bag and the drawstring does not have to completely close (just enough so nothing falls out;)).
