Pvp

The only time we've needed one is when we were booking 4 cabins, since you can't book all four at once in the online system. We would have had to book 3, then go back in to book the 4th. While we could have done that, what if someone else was booking online at the same time & snatched up one of the cabins we were planning to go back in & book? Plus, when we had to reschedule our cruise to a different date, he was able to handle all of that for us. By calling the PVP, he could grab all four cabins at the same time. I'm not even sure mine still works at Carnival, as the last time I emailed him, it bounced back to me.

I have one and he is good, I suppose. But I've booked many cruises in the past on my own. There really isn't much difference that I can see. If you aren't comfortable doing it yourself and handling all the little details, then perhaps you would benefit from a PVP. Otherwise, you're probably just as well off booking yourself. JMHO.

We set up a relationship with our PVP where they are pretty much an order taker and they're good with that. I don't get any phone calls unless I ask them to call me.

The greatest value our PVP has to us is being there when there is an issue. For instance a very vocal person here on the Carnival board announced their cabin number for a cruise we were booked on who said they were going to be having a party most nights of the cruise and to " swing on " by. The cabin number looked familiar so I checked and the party cabin was next door to ours and there was a connecting door between the cabins no less!

This happened two days before the cruise and I got on the horn with our PVP and also emailed the link to the thread to prove my point that a noise issue was likely to interfere with our cruise vacation. I requested that we be moved. It got down to the wire and we were driving into the parking garage near the pier in Long Beach for our Miracle cruise when our PVP called to say they had come through for us and new cards were being issued and we were reassigned another balcony cabin on the same deck but far away.

The service we received from our Carnival PVP was excellent and we don't believe we could have done this on our own if we had booked through the 800 number.

I agree with sanmarcosman. If there is a problem, a PVP can be very helpful. They can also do things that we can't do on our own such as linking reservations together. I use my PVP the same way too. I do all the legwork to choose my cruise, and then I call my PVP and she books it for me. If you do not feel like you're getting good service from your PVP, you can call and ask for a new one to be assigned to you. You may have to ask for a supervisor when you call. My PVP does other things for me such as getting my CCL shareholder credit applied to my account. She also provides phone numbers of specific departments when I need help beyond what she can do such as getting a milestone benefit applied to my booking. She has also alerted me to casino deals I qualify for. She rarely calls me though. She knows I'll call her when I'm ready to book and we're both okay with that. I think a PVP is very valuable if you have a good one.

Exactly why pvp's are useful. BTW you missed some great parties:)

So this board allows people to come on here be keyboard warriors\bullies but heaven forbid if we want to say something nice about a person who we found helpful. Isn't given helpful advice the whole concept after all?

My PVP is wonderful, her response to my questions and issues have always been extremely fast. Every time I've talked with her she reminds me of the little mermaid...so sweet.

I like my PVP. I've only just booked my second cruise, but I would look at the itineraries online and email him questions if I had any about them. Then when ready to book I call him and then both times he has required a lesser deposit than online was asking for. He also has made room suggestions and for our first cruise I really appreciated that and loved the room he put us in. I also like that I don't get random calls from him.

We also had one she was great but she left the company. Haven’t needed one since. At least when I call in for price drops etc. I know the issue will get resolved before I get off the phone. Sometimes your waiting on a pvp to handle the issue and leaves you [emoji848]. Group bookings however would be a different scenario.

I think the reasoning behind it is to prevent the PVPs or TAs from coming on here with several postings saying how great they are, trying to drum up business. It's basically no advertising allowed.

A good pvp is priceless imo. I had a great one. (Alerted me to a free cruise offer) never bugged me: got a new one, and right away, calling bugging the crap out of me. Once I trained him, not to bug me.(unless I have a free cruise offer) he's been great. I booked a journeys cruise last week, and the price dropped 200 bucks. Called and quickly got the price changed.

We have a very good PVP.

Previously we had a lady we loved and after about 5 years she disappeared.

Carnival tried to assign us a guy who called and said that he was our new PVP.

DH talked with him and did not like him or his attitude, so we found another one, but he too disappeared.

The lady we have now I chose. There is a number you can call and get a PVP, so I called and talked to one lady and told her I was thinking of booking a cruise, but I had trouble understanding her speech.

I called back later and talked to another lady and asked her a couple of cruise questions, but she was impatient.

And later I called again and found our current PVP. She was easy to understand and patiently answered a couple of questions.

So we booked with her and have ever since.

She answers the phone or calls back promptly.

She calls me maybe twice a year.

And over time we have become friendly.

It is just nice to call and talk to someone who knows us by name and is truly helpful.

There have been several times through the years that our PVP has been truly helpful.

I book with her because I know that they have a quota and I want her to get credit for my cruises.

And because there have been times when I really needed her help.

Our pvp left the company and i called and asked for a new one but i really don't like him. He seems like he could care less about helping me when I've spoken to him. I called customer service to ask for a new one and was told i couldn't until after our booked cruise in December. That makes no sense to me! How are y'all just calling and getting new pvp's?

Luckily I got assigned a great one from the beginning, but I have referred people to him that aren’t happy with their current ones and he is able to get them reassigned to him. Guess it just depends on who you know and how much pull they have. Being he’s been there since 1992, I would guess he has quite a bit. And no, you don’t have to wait until your cruise is over.
