phissy Posted June 1, 2018 #1 Share Posted June 1, 2018 We were just discussing cruises and realized that MSC “teased” the idea of offering cruises to Alaska sometime soon. Any word if they are still pursuing this market?. I believe there would be incredible interest in this itinerary.
sidari Posted June 1, 2018 #2 Share Posted June 1, 2018 Would not be until 2020 at the earliest plus the likes of Princess, Royal and HAL have first choice on mooring slots. Whatever or whenever the decision, it will be too late for us as we sail there in September 2019 on our first ever ship Ruby Princess.
Rare Cruisergal1208 Posted June 1, 2018 #3 Share Posted June 1, 2018 Which ever ship and whenever, it will require major retro fits to make it meet the strict regulations of Alaska. I haven’t given up hope for one to cruise Alaska. Been there five times and might go again next year.
phissy Posted June 3, 2018 Author #4 Share Posted June 3, 2018 Big hoopla here in Seattle as the NCL Bliss is off today for its first Alaska Cruise. Port here had 3 year, 30 million dollar renovation in order to handle a mega ship. It seems that the mega ships will now be a permanent feature in Alaska waters. MSC could easily have one of their newer mega ships do Alaska. The port would be another matter. Could sail out of Vancouver instead of Seattle.
