POA to Return to the Big Island

Recommended Posts

According to Rep Gabbard from Hawaii, NCL will be returning back to the big Island as early as next week. The Rep said today in an interview on Cavuto that the volcano is impacting less than 1 percent of the Island and the island economy is suffering because of the lack of tourism, thus making it a two fold disaster.

NCL has officially said they are returning to the original itinerary, BUT, we will see later this week if they actually make it. These poor people have had their itinerary changed at least 4 times now, with the first and the last being the same.

NCL should never have stopped calling on the Big Island. I will be surprised if this report is accurate, but I hope that NCL returns ASAP.

The report is certainly accurate.

Our August itinerary, which was changed earlier this week to exclude the big island has now been changed back on myncl. The POA is also currently on its way to Maui, whereas the revised itineraries had it staying in Honolulu until Sunday night.

Of course, things can always change again.

Is it really that important to get to the Big Island? Vog can cause extreme respiratory distress if you have respiratory conditions. Why risk even one guest getting ill?

Saturday's report: TheHawaiian Volcano Observatory said an explosive event occurred at the HalemaumauCrater this morning. The 5.4 magnitude earthquake occurred at 10:18 a.m. and likely associated with a summit eruption. Some areas may have experienced strong shaking. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said notsunami is expected from this morning’s earthquake near the Kilauea summit.

Fissure 8continues to remain active with lava fountains reaching 170 feet. Gas emissionsremain high due to volcanic activity.

Winds areexpected to carry vog to the central, southern and western parts of Hawaiiisland.
