I notice in other threads there is a lot of hotels people are quoting that are good but some of them are 500$ a night and that is a lot more than I am willing to spend. Any decent pre cruise hotels in Miami that are some what close to the port. Can even be a short cab ride away too I am not too picky. Just not willing to spend over 200$ USD

Will be cruising in May 2019

Prices in May, unless you are talking Memorial Day weekend, should be off their peak from Jan/Feb/March. All of the downtown hotels suggested are just a short cab/Uber ride from the port - Holiday Inn and Hampton Inn Mary Birckell are probably your best bets. Taxi to POM will run about $12+

If you are arriving later and just want dinner and a room then look at hotels near the MIA airport. Hotels in the Blue Lagoon area of often suggested - Homewood Suites, Hampton Inn and others - with a local strip mall nearby with dining and shopping options. Taxi to POM will run about $30+, and Uber will be under $20

Cheaper, but more isolated are budget places like La Quinta East and some of the Doral hotels located to the west of MIA (away from the port).

Good luck and have a great cruise! :)

We have stayed several times at the Hampton Inn Blue Lagoon pre-cruise. Free shuttle from Miami Airport. Nice breakfast in the morning and a strip mall with a Publix across the street. CVC pharmacy, Cuban restaurant and Burger King across the street also. If it's just one or two of you, there is a shuttle for $10 per person to Port of Miami. Just ask when you check in to be put on the list. We have used this shuttle service each time and it has been great.
