canadianbear Posted July 16, 2018 #2 Share Posted July 16, 2018 You may want to post on the HAL boards but I'd suggest give a little more info-do you mean night life? Activities during the day?
JT1962 Posted July 19, 2018 #3 Share Posted July 19, 2018 Is HAL too boring for late fifty year olds? I am 56 and took my first HAL cruise in January on the Rotterdam and it was the first in over a dozen cruises that I felt bored. I think it depends on what you are used to on other lines and what you enjoy. It also depends on the itinerary. If you have lots of port days or a scenic area like Alaska, most don’t spend a lot of time doing activities on the ship. If card and board games, reading or other more sedate activities are something you enjoy during the day, then you will be fine. The nightly entertainment shows were fairly weak as well - a movie, game show about the movie, a comedian, a magician and the HAL dancers. There was also very little upbeat music on our ship. No live music by the pool, no sail away party, no venue with upbeat music, etc. Most on HAL seem to enjoy the less active atmosphere. I found many on the HAL board seem to take it as a personal assault if someone says they were bored and insinuate that people are somehow less intelligent or sophisticated if they want more entertainment options and aren’t able to entertain themselves. I can read, play cards, etc. at home, lol. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
