What is the BEST deal you ever got on an NCL cruise?

Does one have to gamble over $5000 per cruise to qualify for CAS?

It's based on the points you earn while on the cruise, and your win/loss results.

You earn 1 point for every $5 put through slot machines (or $10 for video poker). Put through includes your winnings as you go which then put back into the machine. So let's say you plan to play with $100, you will likely earn more than just 20 points on a slot machine as you hopefully will some wins along the way which you then bet with.

For table games, you earn points based on your average bet, the game played, and the length of your session. They don't disclose the way these points are calculated, but as an example I have played blackjack for 2-3 hours, betting $25 on most hands, and accumulated approx. 150-200 points.

Be sure to insert your room key card into the slot machine, or give it to the dealer to log you in at table games.

After your cruise, call CAS and ask if you eligible for any discounts/free cruises. You probably need 1,500 points for discounts and 5,000 points for free trips, but that varies based on your net winnings/losses and the current CAS internal policies.

Our best deal ever was on NCL... in fall of 2009 we snagged a gty inside on a repo from San Francisco to Santiago Chile for $499 each for 19 nights... we were assigned an HC inside.

Our next best deal was in February 2015, we booked with Carnival for a "journey's cruise"... 21 days from Galveston to San Juan and back - it was a 10 day and 11 day B2B, different ports on each leg, and we booked an ocean view for $699 each for the entire 21 days.

We can't live at home that cheaply!
