Indy deck two and three cabins

Recommended Posts

hi there

We normally go balcony and mid but due to the make up of our party for our next cruise we are looking at more cost effective options.

Does anyone have any experience of noise from deck one coming through the deck 2 inside or outside cabins?

Also If you’ve stayed in a deck three inside or outside cabin was there any noise from folk walking/running the promenade above?

Thank you xx

While I have never stayed on either of these decks on this particular ship class, I can tell you that the Promenade is on Deck 5, therefore there will be no issue on Deck 3. You do have the casino and several bars/ lounges above you, so that is something to consider. I wouldn’t worry about it too much, you’ll have a great time on Independence! The one Freedom class ship I have not yet been on but plan to in the next few years! Happy cruising!

We've had a deck 2 oceanview stateroom before and it was one of the quietest staterooms I can remember.

I am pretty sure the OP is asking about people walking on the outside area of deck 4 and not the Royal Promenade of deck 5.

OP, we have stayed in OV cabins on deck 2. It is very quiet there. You should not have any noise issues.

someone I met on my last cruise was in an inside on deck 3 and it turned out to be right under the piano in the Schooner bar. After 3 nights without sleep she was moved to a balcony stateroom on deck 6 only to find she couldn't make a lot of use of the balcony because of the foul smell that came from deck 4 most mornings

Thankyou for your comment. I was referring to the outside prom on deck 4 not the Royal Promenade inside on deck 5.

I’ve sailed on Indy twice but looking forward to trying her for a third time

We’ve had a balcony on deck six and it was fine but maybe they were above the outside smoking area on deck 4.

Thankyou I think I’d rather risk the off chance of noise below from staff quarters. than risk the noise of bars etc above.

There’s only me that’s a light sleeper everyone else will be fine

The smell was from the smoking deck on deck 4, but it wasn't smoke, it was like raw sewage mixed with boiled cabbage. It was present most mornings of the cruise. It's not something I have come across on previous cruises, so hopefully was an issue that could eventually be resolved

We were on Indy in 8/15 and had 4 o/v and 3 inside cabins on deck 3. We didn't have any problems with noise. It was also very convenient to the main dining room level with MTD. We usually get a balcony, but with a large group and the higher prices in the summer this worked out well.

We have been in ocean view cabin on deck 2.

No issues with noise & for us, was just like any other basic ocean view cabin we have had before.

The only comment I would make is that it seemed like we had a longer wait for elevators being on the bottom passenger deck. Still wasn't a big deal. We too, often have needed to remain economical in our cabin choice in order to book a cruise.

We were in 3332 and it was convenient for my time dining and boleros. We enjoyed it except the last night it was very noisy from outside like an anchor or something. We hardly slept from the early hours till it was time to get up.
