30% Casino discount

We play usually on the minimum tables that are still real blackjack ( no 6:5), although my maximum bets tend to creep up pretty high. But it seems most people get that letter if they play a little bit.

Although if the casino manager doesn't like you they won't hand you the discount [emoji14]

I invested about $500 in slots before they came to me with the 30% discount. I won my money back on the last two nights and walked out with a $300 profit.:D Just keep playing until the casino person with the clip board comes up to you.;)

Not only did I get the 30% discount but also received $150 in casino credit on my next cruise!!

So they come to you while you’re at a slot or a table? You don’t go to the Casino desk once you hit those points?

I had called MSC, and was transferred to the "Casino Rep". They told me that points on slots, are approximately $3.00/point. That is a very low threshold, compared to land casinos. I would love to develop a "Relationship" with MSC casino. As long, as they don't decide to screw up the program.

Question regarding the 30% discount. If you hit the 1200 points to qualify for the discount, do they give you the discount certificate then or not until the very last night? I was wondering if you could book onboard with the discount (if you received it early enough during cruise).

According per answer #6 you need to spend $3,600 to get 1,200 points... :(

($3/point). Can this be right ??

Poster Fostelo was able to use his voucher to book a future cruise onboard (see the most recent posts on his thread re All things Seaview).

SirWolf ... there's no way I've spent that much in total over the course of the cruises I took where I managed to attain 4 vouchers in all.

YES, a woman with a clip board came right up to me while I was playing slots. She told me all about the program and gave me all the details and then had me sign a letter of agreement. How good is that?

Sir Wolf, like I said...I invested about $500 plus my winnings as I rolled along. It was well worth it when you consider what a 30% discount means in the Yacht Club. And don’t forget about the $150 future casino credit!

The amount of the future casino credit depends on the number of points above the 1200 - I've had €50, €75 and a €125 cash back on my vouchers.

As an FYI ... you need to achieve 1200 points on a 7 night cruise - on longer cruises it's 2000 points! (I discovered this last December on an 11 night sailing; when, on reaching 1200 points and one of the casino staff was passing, I delightedly informed them that I had reached the 'magic' number only to be told that I needed 2000 points on a cruise of more than 7 nights.

People mistake "Spend", vs "Coin in".

You do not have to "Spend" $3600.00

If you were lucky, you could insert a $100 bill, hit a small jackpot, or get on a winning streak.

Then, just keep "cycling" the same funds into the machine.

This, is how they actually determine points.

In that "scenario", you could "Spend" only $100.00, and get the points.

Although, not likely. It is possible.

I was told by the rep i had the 30% discount on about the 5th night but didn’t receive it in writing until the morning of disembarkation of the first week but was staying onboard for 2 weeks so after a bit of haggling and talking to the casino manager they allowed us to book during the 2nd week. Hope this helps [emoji1303]

That does answer my question. I received my 30% voucher on the last night (a few nights earlier someone had stopped while I was playing and mentioned I was past the 1200 points and told me about the voucher).

Somewhat related.....my son had also hit the 1200 points earlier in the week and was given a voucher. We both received our vouchers on the final night fairly early in the evening. His friend who was cruising with us hit the 1200 point mark later that night (the last night). They realized this much later around 11pm or so and went to the casino cage or manager and informed them and his friend was also given a voucher at that time. We aren't positive but we think Hubby may well have hit the 1200 the final night but neither he (hubby) or I thought to bring it to the casino managers attention.

Lesson learned make sure you keep an eye on your points even up to the last minute.

I received mine on the last night. I think I hit the mark the afternoon before. I had just sat down at a slot and inserted my card when a casino employee with a clipboard came up behind me and said "Mr. Butler", kind of scared me at first. She gave me the paper and had me sign. The paper is vague, doesn't really tell you how to use it. There isn't a code or something like that to use. I called MSC a few days after I got home to inquire. I booked a suite in the YC and got 30%. (about $1300 off). They had me take a picture of my certificate and email it to them for a manager to review. I also have to keep the paper and take it to the casino on the new cruise for my $100 OBC.

It's not OBC - the cashier in the casino will cash it for the amount stated on it - in your case, it seems like it'll be $100.

Now it makes sense, Martin, because I was under the impression that you couldn't use it to book a future cruise (I tried once and they wouldn't allow it).

Thanks for the heads up on the 2000 points! Received a free 10 night VIP cruise and would have been waiting and watching for the "clipboard person" at 1200 points. Also, besides the free drinks in Casino does the VIP have another perks?

I know the answer for booking onboard using the 30% discount (if trying to use it the same week or on a back to back) but does anyone know if you can use it for booking on a cruise later? Example if you receive the 30% in July and you have another cruise already booked for September, can you take the 30% on your September cruise and and do and onboard booking using it for a future cruise

That's a good question, LS ... one I don't have the answer to. All I know is that, when I'm booking directly with MSC with a casino voucher, the discount can't be processed by the reservations rep - it goes to a different department and I have to wait a couple of days for it to be accepted. The onboard Cruise Consultant may be able to make a booking with the proviso that the discount be applied by the shoreside office after you disembark.

Exactly bea no discount on booking comfirmation email when i booked onboard but received another yesterday with the discount [emoji1303]

Thank you, Martin. From experience, I knew that the voucher had to be 'authorised' at a higher level.
