Cooler size and how strict

Mine is a bit bigger than the standard size (2 inches wider, 2 inches taller)... and while it is a softsider and can collapse, the plastic liner inside it can't so I never bother (driving to port, not flying so it's not a big deal). So far no one has ever measured it or objected in any way.

I think as long as you're close to the right size they don't object- it's the bigger hardsider 'party at the beach' coolers they don't want onboard.

It really depends on the port and the person at the X-ray station. Some can get on a power trip. I know in the past Galveston was really strict on cooler size, because people were abusing it and coming to port with them already filled with ice.

More than likely you won’t have an issue, but I just always use the collapsible type to avoid any potential problems
