storelady Posted August 5, 2018 #1 Share Posted August 5, 2018 I'm sailing on the Getaway later this year. With Freestyle dining are you assigned to one main dining room or can you go to any one of the three on any given night? Also, how many formal nights on a 9 day cruise? Thanks in advance for your input.
Heyref Posted August 5, 2018 #2 Share Posted August 5, 2018 Your choice of MDR. you can eat in the same 1 every night, or change it up. Menu is the same
Two Wheels Only Posted August 5, 2018 #3 Share Posted August 5, 2018 Any MDR, any night. Your choice. No formal nights on NCL.

storelady Posted August 5, 2018 Author #5 Share Posted August 5, 2018 Hey Everyone, Thanks for the quick replies. Good to know about the dining rooms. No formal nights? I've never been on a cruise without them. Kinda disappointing for me as they are the only time I ever get to wear my fancy clothes. Thanks again. NLH Arizona Posted August 5, 2018 #6 Share Posted August 5, 2018 Hey Everyone, Thanks for the quick replies. Good to know about the dining rooms. No formal nights? I've never been on a cruise without them. Kinda disappointing for me as they are the only time I ever get to wear my fancy clothes. Thanks again. On the night that they have pictures with the Captain, many folks dress to the nines, so if you want to dress up, you will fit right in.
zqvol Posted August 5, 2018 #7 Share Posted August 5, 2018 While there are never any nights that many people dress up, you may do so whenever you wish. You will find a few people dressed up every night of the cruise.
KurtMo Posted August 11, 2018 #8 Share Posted August 11, 2018 Shorts are ok in which dining rooms? Shorts are OK in Taste and Savor MDRs.
zqvol Posted August 11, 2018 #9 Share Posted August 11, 2018 Shorts are ok in which dining rooms? All of them except La Bistro.
Rare BirdTravels Posted August 11, 2018 #10 Share Posted August 11, 2018 All of them except La Bistro. Shorts are “allowed” in all restaurants for all meals except Le Bistro and Ocean Blue. In those two restaurants, long pants are required (jeans, dockers).
CECRN Posted August 11, 2018 #11 Share Posted August 11, 2018 How about flip flops on children in the MDR?
kirsty_r Posted August 11, 2018 #12 Share Posted August 11, 2018 I would imagine the more casual one would be ok but maybe not the formal. But to be honest I don’t think it’s in the rules? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
kirsty_r Posted August 11, 2018 #13 Share Posted August 11, 2018 I stand corrected.. these are the rules: We want you to be comfortable, but tank tops for men, flip flops, baseball caps, visors and jeans that are overly faded, with holes or tears and worn below the hips are not permitted in main dining rooms or speciality restaurants. Kids 12 and under are welcome to wear nice shorts in all our restaurants. To me that says no flip flops.
