Do you carry passport

Hello,

 

Three weeks will be our first time to Cuba, question, do you get off the ship and carry your passport or do you make a copy and leave the passport in the cabin safe? Any advice what to do would be greatly appreciated.

Since I don’t plan on leaving my purse or bag somewhere like I would if I went to the beach I plan on carrying mine. Especially because of the strained relations between our governments I think it would be safer. I trust the people-I don’t trust politics.

You have to present your passport and have it stamped at immigration when getting off the ship.

You do have to have your passport with you. They may or may not stamp it.

Additionally, you must present it each and every time you get on or off the ship, unlike other Caribbean ports. It will get stamped the first time, when they take (and keep) your visa.

 

They also take your photo, and it appears, compare it to you and your passport every time you pass through.

Stamping is actually hit or miss, depends on the agent. On our 5th and final entry we actually had to ask for our passports to be stamped.
