allentownahoy Posted August 18, 2018 #1 Share Posted August 18, 2018 I am wondering whether this beach will be very crowded on a Sunday. There is one ship in port with 4100 passengers. Thanks
PORT ROYAL Posted August 18, 2018 #2 Share Posted August 18, 2018 (edited) I am wondering whether this beach will be very crowded on a Sunday. There is one ship in port with 4100 passengers. Thanks Don't forget it is a beach promoted on CC and other sites, which can be reached by public bus service, being a destination of T'erds. Then add unto the mix Antiguan people who will be (quite rightly) visiting "their" beaches before the ship's disembarked. If you wish a beach away from any it all, then there are three places of note. Edited August 18, 2018 by PORT ROYAL prediictve
Grant2000 Posted October 21, 2018 #3 Share Posted October 21, 2018 (edited) It definitely won't be crowded. It's quite a long beach located quite a distance from the city. https://antigua-island.com/beaches/darkwood-beach.html Edited October 21, 2018 by Grant2000

CarolRoy Posted November 17, 2018 #5 Share Posted November 17, 2018 What is the public bus schedule like on a Sunday to Darkwood? Are they on a limited schedule because it is Sunday? Also we will be there in December, would it be crowded with locals?

Rare Hlitner Posted November 25, 2018 #7 Share Posted November 25, 2018 We have gone to Darkwood many times and its never too crowded. The down side is that its a pretty long bus ride (we take the public bus). Most cruisers prefer to go to other more popular beaches like Dickinson (we also like this beach). The main reason we have gone to Darkwood is that there is an area with some snorkeling on the left side of the beach. But the last few times we snorkeled the water was just too cloudy (the wave action kicks up sand). Anitigua did not suffer much damage from last years Hurricane. Locals will tell you the island was truly blessed as nearby Barbuda got hit pretty hard. Hank

Looking for a quieter beach and don't require amenities. I enjoy calmer water and no huge drops into the water.
