We typical head to the Queen Room entrance and on line about 5 to 10 after Three for the 3:30 Queens Room Afternoon Tea...

 

There are others on line but too many, but they are there....

Very popular indeed- and worth the time spent there! I agree- 15 to 20 minutes before they open- and you will get a nice table of you own choosing! Comeing late would mean you propably get a table- but not one you choose!

As an alternative you can turn up at around 1600, then the first guests will leave and tables will become available again.

We got there about 3.15 and found a small queue.

Don't get your hopes up for a proper cream tea. I was really disappointed in mine on QM2 back in June. No clotted cream just some sort of cheap stuff. Bearing in mind you can freeze clotted cream I don't understand why it's not served. I can't think of a single place in the UK where you are not served clotted cream with "traditional" afternoon tea. They could do with tips on baking too, the center of my scone could be rolled back up into a dough which I actually did :/
