Confused about upgrading at same price after final payment

I have a great PVP who is not scheduled to work at the time a question arose (5 a.m.), so I called the main number and asked a question. The rep seemed annoyed that I called, gave me an answer that I questioned, then when I said I didn't understand she just kept repeating the same words until I gave up and said, "Never mind." Maybe one of you can answer this (apparently very complex) question.

I have a cruise booked for 9/29/18 under a casino rate. While I was logged in, I was looking at the current pricing and availability this morning and saw that the casino rate for an OV is now the same as my PT. There were two cabins that I would have liked, so I called to see if I could change. The rep told me that it would be another $10 pp; I was all the way up to the payment page and still saw the identical price, so I told her I didn't understand why it would be more. The $20 is not a big deal, I like the cabin I already have, but it was really annoying to have somebody act so irritated and not take the time to at least try to explain in different words when I stated three times that I didn't understand. Can anybody do that for me? Thanks.

on the payment page, did you compare ALL of the numbers with what is on the payment page and what you are paying now?

Most likely the port taxes and fees went up by 10-20 dollars.

No, I looked at all three items - cruise rate, taxes/fees/port expenses, and total charges. All are identical to my current booking.

No expert, but could there be a "change fee"? Otherwise, I'd just click and go for it. Take the gamble and if it doesn't work and it is $20 more...oh well? It is frustrating when you can't get a direct answer though!

I had the same issue on a regular booking. I had to go into detail about the rate code that the room on a higher deck at the same price came up under. Carnival kept telling me I would lose the $25 OBC and that it would cost $200 more. Once I finally got them to understand I wasn't worried about the $25 OBC and that the room was showing at the same price, they changed it. In the end it cost me $25 OBC, But I think it will be worth it!

Well, that issue was resolved quickly. I emailed my PVP just before I posted here, and apparently he checks email several hours before his posted working hours. He responded a few minutes ago to apologize for the other agent, confirm that I was right, and let me know he moved me to one of the two cabins I liked. It is in a great location and adjacent to the other one that was available, leading me to believe that they were very recently cancelled. I caught that same situation when I booked the Liberty recently.

Wait to speak with your PVP. You will want to be sure there were no other Casino Perks tied to the rate that you could lose.

Last month, he told me that when people make changes online, they sometimes end up with a different rate code, and it is common for them to lose casino cash that way. He said it is best to have your PVP make changes/upgrades to retain perks.
