cuba itineraries

we've sailed with oceania and enjoyed the ship..

 

exploring cuba cruises and would appreciate suggestions re itineraries.... several sailings have 1 day (12 hours) in havana and 2 days each in santiago de cuba and cienfuegos. the others have 2 days in havana and not even a full day either in santiago or cienfuegos.

 

what would you recommend?

In all honesty? Land trip.

Having cruised around and visited Cuba, I can say Havana is the place to see. There is plenty there for at least 2-3 days. Cienfuegos and Santiago de Cuba are smaller and less interesting.

I think if you really want to see a country, a land visit is a much better option, compared to a couple days while in various ports.

Havana is well worth two days as a port-of-call and will give you a decent perspective.

 

But I agree with Mic & the Flyer that a land trip makes more sense than a cruise which involves four or five days (or part-days) in Cuba.
