kenhem Posted September 4, 2018 #26 Share Posted September 4, 2018 When I booked with p and o yesterday they said if I wasn't happy with the cabin number allocated when cruise goes live I can change it to where I want to be.Jo Providing it's not been nabbed by someone else before you call. I think I've previously read on here that TA's have a slot (maybe an hour?) to reserve cabins before P&O can allocate them. If I'm wrong I'm sure someone will correct me. Having said that I hope you end up with the cabin of your choice, I'd think you would have a reasonable chance.

What I don't understand is the Early Savers on the site along with the Select fare. For instance, £1499 for Select and £1349 for Saver. Select gets 10% off which makes them the same? majortom10 Posted September 4, 2018 #28 Share Posted September 4, 2018 Correct and if you are a higher tier Peninsula member you can get exactly the cabin you want. As I do for my cruises. TA’ get first bite of the cherry as far as cabins are concerned. Sent from my iPad using Forums I have used the same cruise TA for the last 5 P&O ship maiden cruises and they have always been succesful of getting my first choice of cabin of the 4-5 choices I have given them. For most cruises it makes little difference but when there are maidens about. However if P&O have taken your pre registration you will get a cabin. However if all the Caribbean and above get in first......... Sent from my SM-G965F using Forums mobile app
ZZRLAD Posted September 4, 2018 #30 Share Posted September 4, 2018 Interesting a post seems not have been ... erm got through !!!! This was my first booking with P&O. Which i did online and booked select. But like others have said couldn’t book a particular cabin. They said it would be allocated. Although could choose twin or queen beds and dining preference !!!! All I will say is if P&O stiff me with a dodgy cabin then it will be my first and last with them. Will be back to Cunard

I still find this hard to fathom as always enjoyed getting to know my table and having the same waiters and wine waiter for the cruise....

ZZRLAD Posted September 5, 2018 #33 Share Posted September 5, 2018 I take it that you have really appreciated that Iona will be very, very, very, very different to Cunard :D Probably. However, I didn’t pre-register an Iona cruise. It is. Ventura cruise in October 2020.

If you don't get a cabin that you would have chosen yourself phone P&O with a list of cabins that you would like and ask to be moved to one of those. We have booked as late as the beginning of September for October and November cruises in the past and we have always managed to get one of our preferred cabins so 2 years in advance I think that there will probably be an acceptable cabin still available. terrierjohn Posted September 5, 2018 #38 Share Posted September 5, 2018 I think the prices quoted on the relevant cruise page already have the 10% discount deducted No, the prices on the P&O site are before any discount, however the headline prices all seem to be the saver fares, so you have to "view details" to find the select prices. jeanlyon Posted September 5, 2018 #41 Share Posted September 5, 2018 I wouldn't use a high street TA. I would use an online cruise specialist. There are lots of them and probably very similar. One of the cruises I have chosen works out at £71 pppn which I think is very good. We got the same last year and now the cruise is way more expensive. daiB Posted September 5, 2018 #42 Share Posted September 5, 2018 Think it depends what cabin you choose the quote I have had tonight off P&Os biggest cruise TA offered me P&Os 10% and then a further 3% but was only told end price so dont know what price of cabin is before discounts. The price we have is far less than the TA’s own website. They only give the base price and work out discounts for individual passengers. majortom10 Posted September 5, 2018 #43 Share Posted September 5, 2018 It is very hard to get full Select price before discounts online can only find one TA where they tell every grade but it states £980 for lowest inside cabin on Maiden when every other TA and P&O state £999. They don’t make it easy, but the way I did it was to start a dummy booking on the P&O website for each of the Cruises I was interested in, then you can see the pre discount P&O price for every grade. Then manually deduct 10% for your past passenger discount and then it’s easier to see the actual discount that you are being offered on top of that.
