Dining Requests

for the MDR, you can submit a request when you book. But after booking you need to wait until on board. It may or may not be honored. When the dining room opens for changes, etc. ( usually around 2PM on Embarkation Day), you can go to the assigned dining room and check which table you are at and make a request then. If granted, they will notify you via letter to your room or possibly on the app. But for the first night, you will either have to sit at the assigned table or find another venue for dinner.

We've been on ships where the 2 top is right next to other 2 tops and you might as well be at a 6 or 8 top.

If doing Your Time dining, it's a matter of requesting when you arrive at the restaurant. You may have to wait longer.
