jalakim Posted September 6, 2018 #1 Share Posted September 6, 2018 We have a group of 13 heading to Moho Beach in two weeks. Can anyone suggest a cab company to contact to book transport or will it be just as easy to get a taxi by the ship? Also it is just as easy to get one to come back? Thanks so much for your help. runner15km Posted September 7, 2018 #2 Share Posted September 7, 2018 Just go to the taxi stand at the end of the pier. Look for the sign that has rates to Maho Beach. Make arrangements with the driver to take you to the beach and a time to return. Easy peasy.
PhoenixCruiser Posted September 9, 2018 #3 Share Posted September 9, 2018 We had a group of 14 (one 2-year old). We took the transportation offered for $16 PP round trip. This was my third visit and it took about 45 minutes to get there. We didn't realize it, however our driver waited for us, the trip back was quicker - about 25 minutes. Love Maho Beach and the Sunset Bar and Grill. We ordered wings, burgers, nachos, mozz sticks, and they were all good. Mominor Posted September 12, 2018 #4 Share Posted September 12, 2018 Check with Bernard Tours. We used them for a family of 6 but I know they offer bigger groups.
murcor Posted September 14, 2018 #5 Share Posted September 14, 2018 We grab a cab at the pier and don't make a time to return. There are lots of cabs waiting at the Sunset Bar & Grill to return to the ship. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

kcross3625 Posted September 24, 2018 #7 Share Posted September 24, 2018 The line at the taxi stand was very long. We used Stan the Man Tours for our group of 10 but i think he van can hold up to 14 people.
sellwingri Posted September 26, 2018 #8 Share Posted September 26, 2018 Is the casino that used to be next to the Sunset Grill open?
Rare mdin Posted September 27, 2018 #9 Share Posted September 27, 2018 I'll be in St. Maarten with a group of 8. We all want to experience Maho Beach. Is Maho a good overall beach to spend the day at, or are we better off splitting the day between Maho and another beach?
SnorkelAway Posted September 27, 2018 #10 Share Posted September 27, 2018 I recommend against any thought of spending all day at Maho. Visit Orient or do something else in morning and then get to Maho after lunch for a couple hours. Other than the plane watching, just in my opinion, there is not a lot of interest at Maho. GomezAddams Posted September 27, 2018 #12 Share Posted September 27, 2018 Maho beach is small and VERY crowded. Go for an hour or so and watch a few planes land. Then, head over to Orient beach.
RMH Posted September 28, 2018 #13 Share Posted September 28, 2018 Another option is to spend the morning at Mullet Bay and then walk to Maho in the afternoon. That way you have less travel time and more beach time. You also want to be at Maho in the afternoon when the large planes from the US and Europe arrive and depart. Getting sand blasted by one of those is a unique experience. Mullet Bay is one of the best beaches on the island and the walk is a short 10 minutes. Ashland Posted October 2, 2018 #15 Share Posted October 2, 2018 Just make sure you leave plenty of time to get back to your ship from Maho.

What do you consider plenty of time? There will be a total of 4 ships in when we are there, about 13,000 people. I've read anywhere from 45 minute taxi ride back to 2 1/2 hours. bobbie0253 Posted December 18, 2018 #17 Share Posted December 18, 2018 Does anyone know if they charge for chair rental there? If so how much?

There are two places to rent chairs at Maho Beach; one at each end of the beach. Driftwood Bar is on the north end and Sunset Bar is on the south end. The number of chairs is limited at both places since the beach itself is small, so you have to arrive early to get one. I am not sure how much they charge.
