Gr8Mariner Posted September 9, 2018 #1 Share Posted September 9, 2018 We have about $1k in onboard credit that expires in December. I'm having surgery and can't sail...does Princess ever extend the deadline for health reasons? Thanks for any input.
fishywood Posted September 9, 2018 #2 Share Posted September 9, 2018 (edited) I assume you mean a future cruise credit rather than an onboard spend credit. Whether it can be extended I believe depends on how it originated. If from a previous cruise cancelled with for-any-reason insurance, probably not. If from some promotion you had purchased, maybe. Best thing to do is call Princess on Monday during business hours when there are supervisors on duty that can make a case specific determination for you. Good luck and hope you can cruise again sooner rather than later. ETA: upon further review the question could be about OBC, possibly redeemed from the Princess credit card for a planned cruise that had to be postponed. I very much doubt there is any chance of it being reinstated for future redemption. Edited September 9, 2018 by fishywood
mevs904 Posted September 9, 2018 #3 Share Posted September 9, 2018 Interesting question, would travel insurance cover this?
jlp20 Posted September 9, 2018 #4 Share Posted September 9, 2018 Whatever response you get here is meaningless. Call Princess for definite answer. If they say yes, ask for a follow up letter as proof.

Usually the expiration date of the credit is "book by date". Can you book a cruise further out and use the credit. Its usually not extendable. DrivesLikeMario Posted September 9, 2018 #6 Share Posted September 9, 2018 Princess will reply on a case-by-case basis. Have your TA get on the phone with them now and get an official answer. IME, they are pretty reasonable.
pink845 Posted September 16, 2018 #7 Share Posted September 16, 2018 I have found Princess to be pretty accommodating. We have had many issues travelling with them and if you are nice so are they.
