luvscruising2007 Posted September 9, 2018 #1 Share Posted September 9, 2018 We'll be driving doen on I95 and see that 836 is a toll road. Just so I understand, I can go through the toll stations and I will get billed based on my MD license plate. Is this correct? Thanks:confused::confused:
fishywood Posted September 10, 2018 #2 Share Posted September 10, 2018 Yes a bill will eventually be sent to the address the vehicle's license plate is registered to. It can take up to a couple months as MDX first goes through the state of Florida toll system (Sunpass) to verify you do not have an account with them. https://paymdxtolls.com/MDXWeb/onlineServiceCenter/index I could find nothing on the MDX website above as to how much of an account set-up fee and/or manual billing charge there might be the first time you are billed by them--unlike the state Turnpike system which at many of their toll gates the different rates for Sunpass vs. toll-by-plate are posted. Husky61 Posted September 10, 2018 #3 Share Posted September 10, 2018 Why not call the Florida department of Transportation and get a definite answer?:)
fishywood Posted September 10, 2018 #4 Share Posted September 10, 2018 Why not call the Florida department of Transportation and get a definite answer?:) The tolls on the 836 are collected by Miami-Dade county, not the state of Florida. (Looks like you were typing your response the same time I posted the link above)
luvscruising2007 Posted September 10, 2018 Author #5 Share Posted September 10, 2018 Fishywood--Thank you for the link. I do understand correctly. It looks like we'll be talking less than $5. I won't worry about now. The link was very helpful. I really wish all states would accept E-Z pass.\ Thanks again.
Capt_BJ Posted September 10, 2018 #6 Share Posted September 10, 2018 if going from 95 to 395 to the port tunnel, you will encounter no tolls (unless you use the optional PAY express lane)

SandyMIA Posted September 11, 2018 #8 Share Posted September 11, 2018 If you want to avoid tolls, you can exit I95 and use 36th or 7th streets to go West to Blue Lagoon. You can even save time if expressways are congested.

Yea, it would be really easy to avoid the tolls. Just take a major street like SW 7th street across to the area, it won't add much time.
