How often do they skip Bar Harbor because rough seas

Rough seas may or not be an issue on any particular day. However, fog can always be an issue with Bar Harbor, as it is a tender port.

In October 2015, we were scheduled to tender in Bar Harbor on the Brilliance of the Seas, but could not do so safely due to extreme, heavy fog.

After floating off shore for a while, the captain made the call to head back out to sea and skip Bar Harbor for safety reasons. Very, very disappointing to the passengers, as Bar Harbor is considered the "jewel" port of the New England/Canadian cruise itinerary.

Members of the crew advised us that it was not uncommon to have to skip the port in Bar Harbor for fog or rough seas because you must tender, which must be done under the safest of conditions.

Hope for calm, clear weather for you next week.
