St. John, Newfoundland -- a dog?

OK, I know this is a strange question:

 

When you port in St. John, NF is there a local person with his/her big Newfoundland dog greeting everyone?

 

I LOVE Newfie dogs & really hope to see/meet a Newfie in Newfoundland! :D

Was many years ago but one of my favorite memories of Newfoundland. Hope they still do! Even better was whale watching on a schooner with a huge Newfoundland puppy untying everyone’s shoe laces.

I recently aw a video from last fall when a HAL ship ported there: there was a Newfie greeter. So I'm hoping!

"Whale watching on a schooner with a huge Newfoundland puppy untying everyone’s shoe laces" is my idea of HEAVEN! If only!

Oh, would have been lovely, but no puppies for our Sept cruise on Princess last year.

This is probably too late but yes, they did on our Silver Spirit cruise that stopped in Sept.  Very big guy !  Wonderful.  I found this board when looking for a reference for a rental car in St. John's for an upcoming cruise.

 

Anyone with experience?  I'll start another thread also.

Norway97 -- can you tell me more about whale watching on a schooner?  Besides meeting a Newfie dog, I really want to go whale watching.  On a schooner ship would be fantastic!
