theboz Posted October 3, 2018 #1 Share Posted October 3, 2018 We have a casino comp cruise from Royal Caribbean and we are only paying port taxes. We would like to get trip insurance for medical reasons for this trip. What do I say is our travel costs? 0? or port taxes? Any suggestions are appreciated. klfrodo Posted October 3, 2018 #2 Share Posted October 3, 2018 https://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2685232 Read my thread right below your thread port taxes are refundable. Whether you claim $0 or $500, your insurance premium will be the same.
cherylandtk Posted October 22, 2018 #3 Share Posted October 22, 2018 This is a little late in replying, but note that using a minimum of $1 cruise cost starts your policy now, instead of the date of travel. Makes a big difference if you need to cover a future medical condition that first presents itself somewhere between policy payment and before you board the ship. And of course, as klfrodo noted, you get up to $500 worth of coverage for the same policy cost. So, for two reasons do not insure $0 trip cost. Walfam Posted October 23, 2018 #4 Share Posted October 23, 2018 If you're only wanting medical, you can get that and nothing else. We did that last year for a vacation outside of the U.S. I called TravelGuard and told them medical was all we needed (no other financial loss if we had to cancel prior to going) and they had a policy with great coverage for a very low price. Hope this helps.
