Vow Renewal

We are sailing on the Edge in January and are also celebrating our 25th Anniversary and are considering a vow renewal.  If you had renewed your vows on-board a Celebrity ship please, please share your experience.  Is there a package you have to purchase, etc.?  

 

A renewal isn't something we are set on doing...just something we are considering if it works out.

Years ago my wife and I did this and it was a group event. Several couples in a room and the priest came in and did a blessing/prayer. The priest was VERY late to the event, it seemed like he might have enjoyed himself at one of the bars.

I would not expect a priest to be on board in January.  On Celebrity, there is often a priest at Christmastime and during most of Lent, but not in January.  

 

You are pretty late to be planning this, but you should probably contact the group specialist right away, even if you are not including a group of guests.

We saw a vow renewal on the Eclipse.  Captain Leo performed the event in the library.  Several couples were there, seemed well done to me.

We just sailed the equanix and did a 25 year vow renewal. It was magical. They do have 2 packages. We choose the less expensive one. Dan the cruise director did our vows. I found them on Pinterest. Every thing done nicely. They had a toast wedding cake rose petals all fun. They also made whole cruise special. Decorated door and room. Invite to sail away on heliport and tour of the bridge. I would highly recommend

Curious about roughly how much that package cost, if you don't mind sharing. And did you have to set it up ahead of time before boarding the ship?

Vow Renewal Guidelines

Your Event Manager will arrange your vow renewal package and submit your vow renewal reservation to the ship. The ship's Event Coordinator will meet with you once you’ve boarded the ship to confirm your ceremony date, time and location. This is not a legal ceremony. Couples must show proof of marriage for at least one year. Celebrity Weddings also offers many "a la carte" options to customize your vow renewal package such as receptions, live music, salon appointments, and more.

Due to the duties of the ship's staff, vow renewal ceremonies cannot be held on embarkation day/night or formal day/night. Should you need to cancel your vow renewal, a minimum of 60 days' notice is required. Only renewals canceled outside of 60 days prior to sailing are subject to a refund. An administrative fee of $250 will apply.

Both the Aisle-to-Isle Renewal Package and True Love Knot Renewal packages are limited in number and are only performed on sea days. Book your package early to ensure availability.

We did a vow renewal on a transatlantic five years ago.  It was arranged by the concierge and scheduled at the captain’s convenience one afternoon.  No other guests present.  The captain presided in Michael’s Club, and there was no charge.  He even supplied champagne.  The concierge tried to interest us in a very expensive photo package but we declined. This may have been prior to Celebrity adopting a specific package.

It was so long ago we did ours, there was no fee. If I surprised my wife with one of these renewals on our next cruise, it might lead to a divorce. Crazy prices.
