suesnake2002 Posted December 9, 2018 #277 Share Posted December 9, 2018 So cool to see. I used to live by gatun locks, and swam all the time in gatun lake. Nice memories

PCWalton1 Posted December 10, 2018 Author #281 Share Posted December 10, 2018 Hello, today was our port visit to Colon, Panama. Seven of us had a tour with Roberto of Robtad's Tours. We used Roberto 5 years ago when we were last here and today was another wonderful day. The start of the tour was to drive through Colon to the new Agua Clara locks which opened 26 June 2016. We make a quick stop to view the lock and see a ship that was shortly going to be entering the lock.
PCWalton1 Posted December 10, 2018 Author #282 Share Posted December 10, 2018 We were too early for the Agua Clara visitor center so we took a unique detour and actually walked across the Gatun Lock. We walked across both channel then headed back. Looks to be leaking a little I don't know why but they didn't number these doors The walkway was narrow so I was watching my footing a lot They are serious about no stopping. After we had crossed the first time we stopped and the guard started question Roberto as to why we were not moving.

PCWalton1 Posted December 10, 2018 Author #285 Share Posted December 10, 2018 Once the lock had filled the gate slid open taking about 5 minutes. After watching that we went into the center to watch a 10 minute film about the locks. By the time we got out the ship had completed it's transit through the lock

PCWalton1 Posted December 10, 2018 Author #290 Share Posted December 10, 2018 We traveled Amador Causeway to get a good view of the city. The causeway links the capital to the small islands of Naos, Perico and Flamenco. It was built with the dirt that was removed when building the canal.
