Qcruise Posted November 29, 2018 #1 Share Posted November 29, 2018 We're booked for three cruises in 2019 the first of which is on the Ruby in February. Just received an email notifying us as to the traditional dining times changing to 5pm and 7:15pm......we've been doing "anytime" dining exclusively but given how it's gotten lately I'm thinking the late 7:15pm traditional makes more sense for anything more than four people. As it is now unless you get there to eat at 5-530pm you're handed a pager or wait for half hour....or make "reservations" every morning for 730pm anyways......what's the difference.....? I'm thinking this might be a move to get people away from "anytime" as it's become a mess. What do you think.....?
Potstech Posted November 29, 2018 #2 Share Posted November 29, 2018 (edited) The times will change when you get onboard. This is a major problem with Princess, they send you information before the cruise and then it will change once you are onboard. That is one of the reasons we select Anytime Dining. paul929207 Posted November 29, 2018 #3 Share Posted November 29, 2018 We have switched our February/March cruises from AT to TD second seating. We like the new times, even if they get pushed back 15 or even 30 minutes.
Therese S. Posted November 29, 2018 #4 Share Posted November 29, 2018 Must have been a mass email as we also got our “official” email this morning. Originally had 6:00 TD and will stick with the change to 5:00 and wait and see the actual times once onboard. Hoping for 5:30. I like the 7:15 but concerned about making main show times and the game variety shows. There are so many options for food onboard, I hate to miss the shows to make a dining time. OCruisers Posted November 29, 2018 #5 Share Posted November 29, 2018 We select Anytime ... so no problems for us!
Diver2014 Posted November 29, 2018 #6 Share Posted November 29, 2018 We got off the Crown Princess 2 days ago. The early traditional was 5pm and late traditional was 7:15pm. We eat early at home so the 5pm was perfect for us, although the MDR had many empty tables for that time. We saw people lined up and waiting at the Anytime Dining rooms every night. Such a hassle. We went to the 7:15pm show each night. We never saw anyone waiting for the later show. We never missed anything we wanted to go to because of a dining time. Can you please explain this. We are new to Princess and we leave in 24 days. We selected TD at 7:15. Are you saying that we will most likely have our dining time changed or are you saying that they get backed up and we won't actually be seated at 7:15? jagsfan Posted November 29, 2018 #8 Share Posted November 29, 2018 Basically what shows on your cruise personalizer is replaced when you check in by a time that’s about 15 minutes different. You’ll still be early or late, whatever you chose. They just tweak the times.
firecrewcapt Posted November 29, 2018 #9 Share Posted November 29, 2018 We've always done ATD and have never been handed a pager, with that said we eat at a 2 top around 7:30ish. Just saying.
suzyed Posted November 30, 2018 #10 Share Posted November 30, 2018 We just got off the Crown almost 2 weeks ago and the early dining was 5:45.

satxdiver Posted November 30, 2018 #12 Share Posted November 30, 2018 We just left the CB where we had the later TD time which turned out to be 7:45. Early TD was 5:00 which is in the middle of the day. We formerly did ATD since it was presented years ago but in the last two years have pretty much gone back to TD. We like having the same table, waiter and not standing in line. Next year we changed all our early TD reservations to late TD at 7:15. We will see what the actual time works out to be. One thing we have learned about Princess is that the advertised TD times are only approximate.
victory2020 Posted November 30, 2018 #13 Share Posted November 30, 2018 Off the Ruby a week ago & late was stated as 7:15 but was actually 7:30.
