Mariner of the Seas activities

We are doing a 3 day MOS cruise with the whole family, some 25 in all. The ship spends a very, very long time in Nassau and then another day on the private island. Question: some of us dislike Nassau very much. Will there be any activities on board ship during the time we are in Nassau (7:30am to 9:30pm)

I was on the 4 night Mariner last week, Monday to Friday. Just before 7AM on Tuesday morning the captain made an in cabin announcement that due to weather it was not safe to tender to Coco Cay and we would be skipping that port. Instead we went straight to Nassau, arriving at 1 PM. We stayed in Nassau from 1 PM on Tuesday until 11:59 PM on Wednesday, a full 35 hours. They added extra excursions for Tuesday afternoon/evening for those that were interested, some extra on board activities for Tuesday morning and they showed some extra movies on the pool deck. Everything else remained the same. We had our regularly scheduled sea day on Thursday and returned to Miami on time on Friday morning.

Try a walking food tour.  Something different for people who think that they "dislike Nassau".

I've never seen someone say they love Nassau.

Personally we rented a room at the Comfort Suites for access to Atlantis.

We are doing there same cruise for 4 days and I'm not sure I will be able to have time for everything.

  • 2 weeks later...

Did you use the evening babysitting at all?  I have heard that they Royal babies and tots is 8-12$ in the evening and I can check my 13 Month old in for a few hours.  But they don't advertise it.  Did you use it at all?  When they eliminated the in-stateroom sitting it crushed our anniversary plans.

We did 4 day on Mariner and decided to stay on the ship for Nassau day. Best time for the waterslides as our kids practically  had it to themselves (they got tired as they were going up the stairs so many times...lol).  FlowRider was running too (but Mariner has only one so they switch between boogie and stand up).  They also opened up the laser tag around 3pm (again, great time to go) and I forget exact hours, but Sky Pad was also opened for a few hours in the afternoon.  Gym, mini golf also open.   Pools are crowded on sea days so good time for pool as well...so wouldn't worry about activities.

Some of our best days in port have been in Nassau. One trip we walked down to Junkanoo Beach, stayed for a few hours, then walked down to Da Fish Fry for lunch. Afterwards we headed up to John Watlings Distillary and did a self guided tour and sampled some great rum (btw, the staff there are great!).

Another memorable stop started off as a visit to the Atlantis Casino and ended with a chat with a friendly limo driver who was standing near us. He ended up giving us a great tour of Nassau including for very little money. We were just looking for a ride back to the pier, but had a bonus tour in a limo thrown in. We’re not back in Nassau until 2020, but I’m already looking forward to it.
