It was less expensive to pay in the lobby and no prior commitment.
1Texansgo Posted December 18, 2018 #3 Share Posted December 18, 2018 We were on LOS and were in port 7;30-4:30 so our times were not the same. However, for the price and convenience we had a good day at El Cid. No taxi hassles, plenty of drinks and the food was pretty good to good. Not much of a crowd there and you knew you were steps from International Pier. We originally thought we would walk to the Park Grand (or something like that ) across the street which is bigger and supposedly a little nicer but their day pass does not start until 11:00 so we opted to return for our second trip to El Cid. If a small sandy area great for reading and sunning and a small pool is ok with you then book El Cid.

We prefer Park Royal but agree timing factors in with LOS. What is current price for El Cid bought in the lobby?
Ralphinsc Posted December 24, 2018 #5 Share Posted December 24, 2018 (edited) Enjoyed El Cid's day pass the last time we were in Coz. Nice drinks, food was good and tasty. Enjoyed using the pool and snorkeling along the shore at the resort front there. Just a few minute walk from the pier. We paid $50pp back then but it was in 2016 Edited December 24, 2018 by Ralphinsc

We have always done the less expensive pass which gives credit towards food and drinks as we prefer to eat off the menu as buffet looked limited. Can you order from the menu with AI pass? I was wondering what current prices were. When you factor in lack of transport costs El Cid and Park Royal are good value and convenient for International and Puerta Maya especially when you consider the bad seaweed day we encountered at Nachi Cocom last week. We ordered off of the menu in 2016. Can't confirm if that has changed since then.
1Texansgo Posted December 27, 2018 #8 Share Posted December 27, 2018 We ordered off the menu September 2017 and though the menu was somewhat basic we were pleased with the food. Ate at the tables around the pool.
1Texansgo Posted January 23, 2019 #9 Share Posted January 23, 2019 (edited) Shore excursioneer is offering AI day passes to El Cid for $49.99 while a few days ago I saw them on Resort for a Day for $65.00. It is not four star but we have always enjoyed our day there and enjoyed not having to get a taxi. I have never purchased the passes at the front desk. PlanoDebbie Posted February 13, 2019 #10 Share Posted February 13, 2019 We did an all day pass for El Cid 2 years ago. Won't be going back again. While we got there early and started choosing a nice pair of lounge chairs under a Palapa, we discovered that every single Palapa had already been reserved for guests of the hotel. We were stuck choosing lounge chairs in full sun. While we did get drink service directly to our chairs, only hotel guests were allowed to order food to be brought to them. In order to eat, we had to go eat at the buffet. Food was not very good at all, and service was just as bad.
