Ship Not Getting Back in to Tampa

Anybody know anything about the ship that couldn't get back into Tampa yesterday because of the high winds?

No surprise, as winds were gusting to hurricane strength....74mph+

DH works part-time for the cruise lines at the Port of Tampa. Yesterday, the Rhapsody of the Seas docked in Port Canaveral instead of Tampa because of a technical issue. 40+ buses were hired to take the new Rhapsody passengers and their luggage to Port Canaveral and bring back the passengers getting off and their luggage back to Tampa. Some staff had to go too to help with check in. Also, the Carnival Paradise was two hours late docking in Tampa due to some construction at the Sunshine Bridge. An interesting day to be sure.

I wonder what they did for people getting off the ship that missed their flights, due to the 2 and half hour drive from Port Canaveral to the Tampa airport.

For that very reason, that is why we never fly back the day of debarkation.  You never know what could delay your ship coming back in and then have to scramble to change your flights.

Was your husband lucky enough to share the microphone with Captain Carnival as well? It's an honor that Heald will forever have.

I'm not surprised -- the Sunshine Skyway bridge was closed for most of the that day and the waves in the bay were crazy high. 

We were delayed boarding for a cruise several years ago in Tampa due to fog -- incoming ship couldn't get in, so we couldn't get on!  We didn't board until after 8pm, and the ship didn't set sail until after 10.  That was a loooong day in the terminal.
