Brilliance questions

On 5 night cruises, how many/when are formal nights? And the cafe in solarium, are there snacks on boarding day? If so, what type? Any specific tips for Brilliance?

There is 1 formal night, I do not recall which night.  Solarium Cafe was open on embarkation, but I think it was around 1:00 PM

 

Brillance is relaxing ship, only downside is the smoke from casino seems to drift out into nearby areas.

Park Cafe in the Solarium would normally have roast beef sandwiches, other small sandwiches, wraps, salads, etc.

Just back from Brilliance over Christmas.  The formal night is once, on the first sea day.

Park Cafe in the Solarium normally had "snacks".  I didn't notice if that included the first day, though.  And by snacks, I mean salad, fruit, some prepare sandwiches and a carved type sandwich along with one soup and small sweet offerings   Always good stuff!

Thanks for the replies, now that the Holidays are over, I am finally actually THINKING about this cruise. Lol, we sail Monday!

The Park has Pizza & cookies as well! Riding those ocean facing elevators is a must!

OOH, I've not heard of the ocean facing elevators!  That would be a blast 🙂

BLAMBKY, let me know if the Roast Beef sandwiches are as good as people say.  Down to 74 days before we board Brilliance!

Actually you don't have much choice - middle of the ship elevators are all on one side of the ship and you have to go through the elevator lobby to get to the buffet.  Very congested area!  View is ok if you happen to be next to the glass.

Best tips... each day check out the dinner offerings at both the MDR and the Windjammer. If you like what the buffet has to offer, you can use that as your appetizer course by choosing small tastes and then go to the MDR... Ask for a fresh pizza in the WJ as it gets "doughy" if it sits a while and loses its crispy bottom...Use the hot tub and sauna - no charge. It's behind the front desk of the spa. Just ask for a locker key at the front desk for the spa and then relax... Do make sure to bring a highlighter to mark what you want to do the next day...Take advantage of the lower spa treatment costs on port days and the last day...Do check out the musicians at the bars in the evenings - lots of different options and there's always something fun going on in the Centrum - but get there early if you want a seat - it fills up early!

How did you enjoy the Christmas cruise?  My family will be doing that this year. We are really excited.  We will be celebrating a couple of milestone life events while on the cruise on top of it being Christmas, but I would love to hear about what was different about a Christmas cruise than one on a "normal" week.  I have read that a lot of people really get into the spirit on holiday cruises (the holiday spirit, not "the spirits" as in alcohol. LOL)
